Arctic Fox extended warranty?

Just bought an Arctic Fox 811 w/onboard gen. Is the extended 7yr warranty worth it? It covers all things mechanical. Camper has AC, microwave, stove/oven, wireless Rieco-Titan electric jacks. Are any of these considered a high fail item?

This question has been posted to the RV forum recently with lots of responses. If you do a search on extended warranties, you will find it.



The responses were split pretty evenly between 3 ideas:



- getting the extended warranty.

- putting the cost of the warranty (approx $2000) in a mutual fund or other type of savings and collecting interest until its needed.

- buying a service manual and doing the repairs yourself.



I personally bought the extended 7yr warranty on my 5er and it was the first extended warranty I have ever bought on anything. However, I really like the idea of saving the $2000 in a mutual fund. Next time, I will do this.

I've owned many travel trailers, 5th wheels, and truck campers over the last 30+ years. The only extended warranty I have found to be beneficial is on the Dometic fridge. I bought the longest extended warranty on the Dometic fridge that was available from Dometic and if I remember correctly, it was about $200 for a five year term. I've had the cooling units in three Dometic fridges fail while under the extended warranty. Each time Dometic either replaced the cooling uinit or replaced the complete fridge at no cost to me. Considering the relatively low cost of the Dometic extended warranty and the cost of a cooling unit, the Dometic warranty was a good buy.

All of what ya'll say is true, but Fox stands behind their coaches very well.

I have an 04 30U purchased new, it has been pulled 40 to 45K miles so far. I had a few issues that they addressed with no hassle whatsoever. Good people, good product. I've even went to the factory in OR and was treated very well. There are 5 Foxes in my family. Good traveling!!

I agree... Arctic Fox is a very good RV. I'd say one of the top brands in a long roster of manufacturer's. I don't own one but I've worked on many and you can certainly tell the difference between a quality RV and a cheaper econo box. Don't get the ext. warranty and learn to work on it yourself. You'll save big time!!!

I've had my AF 27-5L 5th wheel for almost 7 years and it has never had a warranty claim or been back to a dealer. Whatever goes wrong, I fix myself. Save your money.

When you buy a quality RV, like an Arctic Fox, and you are handy with basic tools, you don't need the extended warranty. Buy an RV shop manual instead. I agree with klenger, learn to fix it yourself.

I agree with everyone else here. You already made the right choice in getting a fine product. I don't think you need to spend anything more.

My 2002 Nash has never needed a dealer.

I would look closely at the small print in that contract. Who is it with. I work in an RV service department and have dealt with those contracts. I would not recommend them. I have experienced more declines than acceptances. . also, is there a deductible with that one?

Deductible is $25. Leaning against the warranty.

Learn to fix yourself... . And if you have issues or problems,ask us here. We can all help with information and/or parts.

I have a '98 Nash (made by the same company that makes the Arctic Fox). Bought it used (7 months old) & it has been excellent. Never had to take it to a dealer. For a couple of years, I had an AF 19-B & it was a great trailer, also. The 19-B was never at the dealers, either.



I would buy the AF/Nash line again, in a heartbeat!!!!!



I've had my '98 Nash 25-S all over the Mountain West & back East & into Ontario, Can. twice. It does have some use, on it. I spent two summers in it on the road back East.
