I just picked up a 03 235hp california emissions motor to swap into my kaiser m715. I was wondering the differences between the mine and the ho motor?? Is there any major differnces?? internals etc i tried searching but turned up blank. Any info is appreciated. thanks Mike

Depending on your build date there may be differences in internals. The early early engines did not have the upgraded pistons and chamber cooling. I believe there were also some bowl differences in the piston. If its a later build I believe the only difference is programming. Word has it Smarty will make a Cali motor equivalent to an HO in output. :)

I think the 235 hp engine is enough to snap the driveline in your kaiser, but if you want more, the aftermarket is there.

I would not tow heavy (not likely in your case) with a souped up 235 engine. If Cummins upgraded the pistons to go to 305 hp, there is a reason for doing it.

Stock m715 driveline is definetly not the best lol. My truck already has a built 355 with a 14bolt rear and 35spline gm 60 front both with detroits, sm465 w a np205, 1410 driveshafts and 42" tsl's so i think the driveline will hold up fine. Just want to turn up the 235 horse (once its in) and was wondering if i would be better off to sell it and start with a ho motor. I would like to get app 500 wheel horse and app 900 ft pnds out of it and still be reliable.
