PIAA 520 Ion Crystal FOG Lights w/ Buckstop Bumper

Thinking about putting a Buckstop bumper on and they recommend this light for the 6" fog light holes. While I am sure that it is a quality light coming from Piaa, I have to wonder just how "yellow" it is. They do not make a 6" light that is white instead of yellow except in a "driving" light which is not what I need.



I need this for snow and rain while on low beams. I have heard all the history on yellow fog lights and whether they actually are better or not. Certainly the yellow "lense" ones are not.



Has anyone used these particular lights and has an opinion on them? Thanks!

I have the Buckstop on mine, and run the PIAAs. They are yellow and cast a funny glow out front of the truck in clear night air. But the first time you run with them in actual fog, you will not have any thought of using any other light there.

Thanks! Thats the kind of stuff I need to hear. Not marketing, but actual use. I used to use the original factory fog lights (white) like near-field lights in clear weather. That is why I wondered how these would look in clear weather as well as inclimate weather. Keep the opinions coming!

If you're trying for yellow fog lamps, the stick-on films don't really tint the light very effectively. You can get good results by removing the fogs, cleaning the lenses *thoroughly*, and spraying them with several coats of Dupli-Color Metalcast yellow, which is a transparent yellow paint product: METALCAST™ . Let each coat "flash off" (dry most of the way) before applying the next, and use thin coats so you don't get drips and "sags" in the wet paint. With each successive coat, the yellow tint will grow deeper. Make them about 2 shades deeper than you think looks right, and it'll turn out well in the end. Of course, the coating needs to be permitted to dry and harden completely before you take the fogs out on the road, otherwise dust and grit will become embedded in the still-tacky surface.
