Well, it's official, I'll be spending a lot more time over here now with you rowdy lot:D Last night I took delivery of my new 2008 3500 SXT in Patriot Blue Pearl Coat. Generally I'm more prone to restoring old equipment than buying new, but so far this truck is doing nothing but impress me.

Thank you. I know some people can afford to get into a new truck every few years so it might not be a big deal to them to get a new truck, but its more of a long term investment for me being the first time I've bought a new one and not a used one with a pending repair list. Naturally I'm pretty happy, does it show? :-laf

Thank you. The photos just don't do the patriot Blue color justice. You are right about the payments. The 95 was paid for. For me the new works well because I have a good chunk of change put aside for it and would like to have the warranty while I move and don't have a shop to work in over the next 24 months. I spent over $1500 in parts in 2006 on my 95 and $3600 last year in parts for it, and this year I had $2900 worth of parts lined up, so with no end in sight it was time for her to go to a new home.

Hey Coalsmoke congrats I have the twin to your's except mine has 410's with a bunch of other stuff added as for missin the 12 valve I miss mine but it was one of a kind and if everything works right I will be starting the build of another crewcab this time It won't be up so high in the air Sweetttttttt truck thou man :)

Thanks guys. It's a nice day out here so it will get a good coat of wax to really bring out that blue, should be nice.

Simplysmn, I hear you on that. I had a lot of stuff on my 12Valve, and I think its those accessories that I miss more than the truck, like the Grover air horns:cool::-laf

Well there is Nothing better then a sweet sounding straight piped first gen ya just Gotta love that sound but like I said my next toy is in the work's so soon we will see . as for the PatriotBlue man they r sweet when they r cleaned up :)

haha, straight pipes yeah, that was fun for a while, but the 4" straight got a little loud on the longer trips, and next thing you know I was liking the sound with the big muffler on there, and now I'm liking the new "quiet" and not have to talk over the interior cab noise of the 12V. Maybe I'm getting old:eek:

Coalsmoke,

Did the 3. 42 differential come as a factory option? I just went to the Dodge website and didn't see that as an option with the diesel engine.

New rigs!

Congrats on the new rig. it's nice to be able to carry on a normal conversation without shouting at your passenger. The vastly improved steering, braking and frame stiffness are much appreciated. Now if we could just get back diesel at $1. 00 less. Enjoy!:)

Thanks Bob, I'm amazed at how nice the truck drives. Going along with what you said, it's really nice to have a parking brake system that works well as opposed to the standard cable and cam lock on the drum brakes like I was used to.

the 3rd gen trucks are lightyears ahead of the older trucks as far as the creature comforts are concerned. and the factory power is awesome, and modded drivability of the 5. 9 CR's vs. the 12v is awesome.

but sometimes I wish my '04 had a p-pump in it

Coalsmoke: I would really recommend that prior to your wax, you take the time to clay bar your truck. It will remove all the crap off the paint. There's bound to be rail dust etc on it. The clay bar will make your wax job really stand out.

Congrats

Yeah I'll check it and see how it is, probably will start with a clay job like you say. Never had a new truck before so I'm not sure how much stuff is in the paint from the factory and transport. Definitely going to take a little more gumption to clay a truck like this than my T-Bird took.

Forrest, I'm just glad there's no VP-44 on it :)
