Anybody paying $6/gal yet

At what point will the $$$ of Diesel Fuel really

I have been riding the motorcycle and driving the wife's car. I only drive the truck when the weather is too bad for the motorcycle.

I just work the truck right now, not much driving for pleasure any more. just wish my income went up like gas does.

I still drive mine daily... at 24 mpg it's still ok. When I change vehicles it will most likely be gas... the knock is I don't need a big powerful truck for anything... it's just nice to have;).

I can easily get by with a small truck for all that I ever need a truck for.

(plus my son has two IF I ever need that power).

You will be doing good to find ANY small truck that will beat 24 MPG!

parked the truck and bought a 92 Toyota tercel for 5 hundred bucks that had been rear ended and the owners insurance totalled it. It payed for itself in the first month I've owned it. It gets 40 mph and I fill up its tank for 26 dollars a week as compaired to about 120 for the truck. 4. 65 a gallon and climing here.

WD

Yeah it probably does only get 40 MPH, maybe it gets 40 MPG too? :-laf

I'm getting ready to trade mine in for a Winnebago MH with a Ford V10 that gets 8 MPG on a good day. Someone hit me.

Keeping mine!

My 1st Gen, is a great rig. Haul my drums weekly, and other projects. Average 22mph right now set it at 64mph on the So Cal freeways-"Drive around me Jack!" You gotta have a real pick-up truck. I drive my 36-year old Bug to school daily, (hey new owners manual states, "25mpg"). I'm set, living below my means :p

Patrick.

makes me mad when I see all the guys driving around with lifted diesels, big tires, fancy wheels, and there are no scratches on the black paint in the receiver hitch, and they just drive to their office job, I say thanks for the high diesel prices

There's very little correlation between diesel prices and people who just use them as "grocery getters. " I'm sure there really aren't that many of us in the grand scheme of things who buy a heavy pickup and don't pull or carry something heavy on a semi-regular basis. I think you're barking up the wrong tree.

europe is looking at us and asking what the problem is?? aol news tonight -us dollars. belgium 8. 22, iceland 8. 28, manaco 8. 31, netherlands 8. 37, u k 8. 38, norway 8. 36, eritrea? 9. 38, bosnia 10. 86, aruba 12. 03, and sierria leone? 18. 42... ... ouch!! flip side venezuela . 12, saudi . 40 and russia . 88. if fuel remains this high or higher our economy will adjust to it but how long will it take. the demand for fuel up goes daily world wide so i don't see it going down without the benifit of new oil fields. even drilling up north would take avery long time to effect us and "they" say it will be a small percentage of us oil needs. so we need much more exploration and results. i would like to see the energy commision regulate big oil to cut out the price gouging. after all isnt oil-fuel vital to the defense of the us? paying the highest prices ever per barrel for oil and then making record profits just does not correlate. two things that really bother me is: alaska pipeline oil is being sold to foreign markets, it maybe to allies like the uk but it is bieng sold. two; gas-fuel refined in the us is being sold on foreign markets. there goes the theroy the refineries cant keep up!!! there i'm done ranting and i feel better... ... ... i think?. no one more. the news also stated that the oil from iraq that is supposed to pay for the war is being stolen at the rate of 3,000,000 gallons and i thought they said per day. maybe someone can confirm or denny this. at two billion a day for the war you would think we would be regulating this big time!! robert

No sale here. I just added mods and love it. $2. 00 difference isn't nearly enough to pay the loss I would take in selling and buying for years to come.

It's not going to stop for me, maybe slow down some. I just bought a new 5er, so I need my diesel truck to haul it with since I don't believe my Toyota Avalon can haul it. We'll just make shorter trips and stay longer. I have confidence that the fuel prices will stabilize.

Just don't suggest price controls. That just artificially keeps demand high like during the 70s. Then you have lines of people waiting for nonexistent fuel. Get rid of the price controls, demand goes down to realistic levels, and the lines dissapear.

Welcome to the global economy. The refineries CAN'T keep up, because the demand is GLOBAL. China has the biggest net increase in fuel use by about 30% in the last 15 or so years.

I don't see how 3,000,000 gal. of oil are stolen from Iraq every day.

theft of iraqy oil..........wow

www.upstreamonline.com/incoming/article133522.ec...

someone questioned how could the iraqie's loss be three million gallons of oil per day as i mentioned in earlier post. i did not know if i heard it right but... ... ... ... . the above site says estimate is $15 million per day. i put in the computer "iraq oil theft" and the above site and many others came up. robert

My truck is my only truck and being a fultimer I need it to move the house around. Although rv trips are very limited right now. What I have started to do is what alot of people are doing, cutting back. About the only trips other than to get to work is going to the folks house on Sundays for lunch. Not sure about everyone here but I have noticed that my grocery bill has gone up $50 for the same items. I used to spend around $150 which would last me about a month. Now it has jumped up to $200.

I guess we can only hope for something like that... but I doubt we will ever see it out of a pump for less then $4/ gallon, hopefully I'm wrong.

I would tend to agree.

On April 3, 2003 I paid $1. 579/gal. On March 27, 2008,I paid $4. 049. That's a ratio of 2. 6 in 5 years.

If we assume, optimistically, a ratio of 2 every 5 years, we'll be at ~$8/gal in 2013.

Without public transportation infrastructure, what will our government do to help us out? I'm hoping they open up ways for us to use human power to get to work (bicycles, walking). Although, it occurred to me the other day that if food prices continue to climb with fuel prices it might not be any cheaper to "fuel" yourself for the ride/walk to work every day!

The refineries don't want to keep up, In Cali we use 99. something of everything refined. One hiccup and we are screwed. Just the way they like it (oil companies) Exxon posted some nice profits again. Seems that we will be the ones on bicycles. And that "cheap" stuff from China won't be no more. We will have to find another country to exploit.
