Almost did not go again this year.

The truck felt weak on Monday the 5th so I thought why bother? Got home and saw I was not getting full pedal travel. Adjusted accordingly and all was doing well.

Worked until 12:30 on Wedensday; on the 50 mile trip going home truck lost 6 pounds of boost. Thought I could hear some hissing above 32 psi. Got home, plugged the turbo and pressure tested system to find a weld had let go on the end tank of intercooler. Oh well, was'nt meant to be I guess. Called my neighbor and he put me in touch with a man who said he could fix it if I got to his shop 20 miles away before 4:00 pm. Got there and I yanked the grille off and he repaired the damage in about 3 minutes.

Returned home took a shower packed my bag and left Denver about 7:00 pm. Drove all night and arrived at the Golden Nugget at 5:30 Pacific time. Got a room for 2 nights then found a car wash and gave the truck a bath. Signed up for Madness registration at RV park, then two hours later for Maddogs dyno. I was the seventh truck and made 520 diesel only and 561 water/meth. I think they used a 10% correction. That would put me at 472 diesel and 510 water/meth uncorrected. Went to bed at 10:30 pm and to my amazement was wide awake and moving again at 6:30. Hung around the "Hall of goddahavits", talked to fellow TDR members, went to a couple seminars, dinner then changed a turbine housing for a fellow named Brandon. Talked to Peter with South Bend to the wee hours about clutches, pressure plates, 5 spds... ... ... ... ... ... and more clutches.

Sorry Peter, I apoligize as I know you had to speak first thing in the morning.

I stayed up after Peter left and got to bed at 4 am Sat morning then checked out just before 8:00 am. Arrived back in Denver around 8 pm.

Overall a trip that went well. Very friendly fellow TDR members, more so than any other dyno day or get together I have ever attended.

And best of all, the ve pump May Madness record has been bumped up a bit.

I think about 35-40 trucks dynoed and I was around 5th overall.

glhs it was nice to meet you, that is one nice 1st gen you have there. I am sorry I can't remember you name this is Blair the guy that sold Brandon the exhaust housing. Maybe next time we will get to talk some more.

Blair

Successful trip; yes!

Blair, I remember you. I've read posts and seen your name many times over the years.

Read a little about your intercooler too.

I was hoping to hear out of Brandon to see how the truck was doing. Have no way to reach him.

That was some good air dropping down to 2600 feet. Can only wonder what another 2000 would do. Never have I just floored it in 3rd or 4th and had the truck go sideways. :D

Kurt

Dang Kurt looks like you did pretty good. :) I had a blast when I went down there a couple of years ago. I wish I could have made it. I think there was only two first gens when I was there. How many made it this year??

Stomp

From what I've read not too many show up like you said but, this year I think I saw 6 or 7 and of those, about 5 dynoed. Not counting the 1963(?) Fummins.

Be careful Jeremy, Kurt is coming he has one nice 1st gen, I am partial to red though so my opinion might be biased. You and you no necked buddy better show up next year or who knows what might happen ????

Yeah I have seen some of his pictures and your right it is a very sweet ride.

I dont know if myself and no neck could be in the great state of Nevada together. I could see us ending up in county lockup or something like that. :-laf

glhs

I might have seen that many over the 4 days that I spent down there, but only two dynoed.
