My truck hasn't seen overdrive in about 4 months. I don't drive it all that much and have been able to live with it. I have installed a potentiomenter, a TC lock-up switch as diagramed by TST (???), resistor for temp sender and just today, a new OD Solenoid on the valve body. Still no OD and now the TC stays locked after 15 mph and won't unlock coming down. I've tried different combinations on the POT to no avail.

Driving with the rear window open, I can hear a bit of racket, like a ratchetting sound while slowing down, so I am sure the OD hardware is now the reason for the OD outage, but why the TC staying locked. It is hardly driveable this way as I have to shift to N to stop (I have already found reverse doing this). I can live without OD for now, but I have got to get the TC functioning.

Also, is the OD unit replaceable from the outside of the transmission or does the entire unit need to come apart. Obviously, a rebuild is on the horizon, but I am trying to get a feel for what is added to the 727 for OD.

Thanks.

The O/D unit comes off from the rear, so that is a good thing.

If the lockup switch is a new setup, then I'd start there.

I would say that is a good thing the OD unit comes off of the rear. Is it feasible to remove it from the transmission while still in the truck??

The lock-up swith is not new. It has been in the truck since I have owned it and it has worked. I guess I should run the wires again just to make sure the ground is solid.
