Well my floor jack finally gave up. I'm looking for a good 3 or 4 ton floor jack(not a bottle jack style) to use around the garage. Would like a "name brand" that has a good warranty that might last more than a few months. Looked at Sears and Harbor Freight but have read bad reviews on those. Also have looked at the "racing style" but would rather have a good heavy duty style. Would like the price range somewhere $100-125 if possible. Freight charges are also a concern because they are hhhheavy.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Actually, I was going to recommend Harbor Freight. I purchased mine from them in 1990 and it is still in great working order. At the time I paid $50. Not sure what it would cost now. Nowadays I have learned and would prefer to purchase "Made in America" stuff if I can, but back then I wasn't thinking that way. Sometimes you can get free shipping deals from them too.

unfortunately all I can recommend is harbor freight, have one from an auto parts store, think it is "Torin" maker, probably chinese also... the harbor freight one was cheaper and works better.

Michelin

Mine came from Sam's Club. It's a blue Michelin, and is a very stout unit. I think it's 3. 5 ton rated, and was around $75. Bruce

Go to your local sear's store they have a 8000 lb cap floor jack that works great I believe it run's 140. 00 or in that area I sure like mine

I was going to suggest the "Michelin" from SAM's Club but see that Bruce "bimmeragent" has already made that recommendation. I'll second Bruce. I bought one maybe 10 years ago from SAM's and it has proven very reliable.

I would bet that the jacks from SAM's Club, SEARS, and Harbor Freight are all made in the same province in Communist China.

Maybe next store to the factory that makes those "great" trailer tires with the American company's name on them:mad::mad:

Thanks for the jack recommendations--

I received a 3. 5 ton floor jack from Costco some 4 years ago for Father's Day. I've used it a bit and it's been great. It's a Larkin brand, made in China of course.

I've got a 3. 5 ton professional series from Carquest that has been excellent. I drag it all over the yard(dirt gravel grass), and it takes the abuse. Good thing cause it's too heavy to carry more than a few feet. b After 2 years it still lifts a CTD without complaint or much effort. It also has a greasable pivot shaft. I caught it on sale when I worked there and got a great deal.

The Lincoln and OTC jacks that I have that are 3 or 4 ton are at least 20 years old... and back than were $300. 00 jacks...

I have a pump and jack repair company across the street from our shop and have bought 2 repaired US jacks from them used after the owners failed to pick them up... in each case the refurbished jacks were $200. 00 but were great 5 ton jacks that were US made years ago... .

Look in the yellow pages for pump and jack repair... . their motto is "we repair stuff that sucks"

BTW - I do have a nice aluminum jack from Costco in my 5er if I need it besides the bottle jack... .
