Why don't you think about using relays... let you current back up light set trip a relay... you already have a 20 amp circuit in the back of the truck in the trailer harness as well as a back up light signal...

The same with the air compressor... every time the truck starts it triggers a relay which allows the compressor to build air, and than shut down as the pressure switch controls the pressure in the air tank... .

That's way we decided to do it... .

I will be using relays also... Besides they only have a 10a rating and the rear lights will probably be 9 at most, but the air compressor can be up to 22 amps if the engine is off. And the winch, well lets just say I need a decent sized HD CD solenoid for that :D

On the rear lights I would rather have them on a switch than off the trailer harness, thou the trailer will be getting backup lights. I use the backup lights more when parked and setting up camp, or a goose blind, etc...

All the systems will be getting power from a blue sea fuse block underhood, and I plan to use tap-a-fuse setups for the switch power to run of acc.

Here's where I put some of mine. The switches are 18 amp rating I believe.

I really like the style of switches that you posted above, but I couldn't find a really clean way to incorporate 7+ into the 3rd gen interior.

I don't remember who it was, but someone had a very nice set up of switches in the overhead console that looked fantastic. The thing to remember with relays is, the switch only has to send a trigger to the relay which is very low current, so the switches can be small, yet still effective.

The last switch thread added to my 'plan to do' list... item 97. In preparation, I bought 6 'Rocket Switch w Blue LED' from PC Mods, Case Mods, PC Cooling, Gaming, and More - Crazy PC. They were about $5 each and appear very well made, fit 3/4" hole. I'm building my relay panel now... .

If you have the time, it would be fanastic if you describe your project in more detail, including the construction of the relay panel and whwere you end up mounting it and your switches. Pix even better Oo. TIA

I have installed a fuse panel in the pop open side panel on the left of the dash. Building a relay strip to mount on the cross piece exposed when you remove the under dash/under steering wheel panel. Mounting the switches in the overhead panel... per the previous thread. I'll take pictures but don't expect them soon... after all, this is Item 97 on my 'to do' list!

Thanks for the additional details!! --I am planning on doing something similar in the same place. Look forward to the pix, but totally understand about the time involved.

I put my switches in one of the little holders by the cup holders. For me they were easier to reach than on the dash out of the way and easy to install. Just pull out the rubber holder skinny the wires under the carpet and out the hole in the firewall. I drilled the big rubber gromet that fills the hole and stuck the wires through it it replaced the plug and it sealed real well.

pics? I have thought of that space.

Has anyone popped out the small center panel that holds the switch for the exhaust brake? I tried prying on it, but didn't want to dig into the plastic, so left it alone.

Jelag, what 20 amp circuit are you referring to in the trailer harness-- I have a spare set of backup lamps in my Reunel bumper that I haven't wired yet because I did'nt want to pull wires all the way from the batteries.

Also wondering where you mounted the relay that tapped the backup light.

Thanks
