George W. Bush signed the bill to make this all possible. #@$%!

What bill is that?

So far in this thread that is about the only thing you have said, and yet you have not said which bill it was that the evil BOOSH signed to cause this.

If your going to point fingers you might start pointing them at all the politicians in DC since the last time I checked a bill had to make it through congress before it could be signed by the POTUS into law.

radcam- "Through a convenient regulation exception granted by the George W Bush administration in January 2006, the ICE Futures trading of US energy futures is not regulated by the Commodities Futures Trading Commission (CFTC)" direct excerp from the article.

You said he (Bush) signed the bill, and I asked what bill. Then you quote an article without a link to the article. What article, you still didn't answer my original question, where is your proof?

If you read Gary-K7GLD's post, (he even provides a link) it says the CFTC is investigating the U. S. oil markets. How can that be, if the U. S. oil markets are exempt from regulation then why is the CFTC investigating?

Like I said previously all the politicians are at fault here. They are all prostitutes who sell themselves to the highest bidder. Lobbiest, special interest groups, even the Chinese if your name is Clinton, they don't care as long as they make their millions.

I'm no fan of George W. but all you Bush haters crack me up how everything is his fault. First you argue that he's dumber than a box of rocks, then you say how cunning he is the way he pulls of these vast conspiracies.

DO NOT make the mistake of thinking that the government is the one in power nor are they taking the most significant profits in regards to oil. The government receives other gratuities and leverages in regards to the oil schemes. Bush is no more akin to a puppet than a world leader when you really look at who is determining the global oil forecasts. In fact his job is an unfortunate one as it has become a position of a global scapegoat. "Blame it on the president. " The president collecting close to a half million a year is not the one seeing big profits when it comes to oil and other key stock holdings.

Another (IDIOTIC!) headline in today's media states that at the record high of $4 a gallon, USA fuel cost is a "bargain" compared to European costs...

For one, *I* don't give a damn WHAT the Europeans pay for their fuel - OR what some in the USA pay per gallon for bottled water, perfume, or beer!

The Europeans pay what they do for fuel because of runaway and vastly overinflated TAXES per gallon - that's their government's slant to Socialism - they put up with it, and deserve what they get, and that has absolutely NOTHING relevant to do with the situation in THIS country.

Attempting to befuddle us in this country with smoke screens comparing our fuel costs vs Europe is just THAT, a smoke screen to sooth our anger and somehow make us feel "lucky" for what we are seeing at the pump - JUST AS the mindless steady string of similar comparisons we see related to the cost of fuel vs cost of other items, such as bottled water and whiskey - but that is pure BS, we don't NEED bottled water or whiskey - or any of the REST of the nonsensical items used for these idiotic comparisons - but we DO need fuel to run this country's agricultural and industrial infrastructure - or we all wither and eventually cease to exist...

that quote WAS from the original article this tread is based on!!:rolleyes:

And as far as GW haters, he dang well deserves it! PLEASE prove he has done a darn thing to BETTER this country. Now he claims to be on our side and tell congress to release the oil reserves HE started stockpiling as a part of declaring war on Iraq?!? Does he think the American people are that stupid??#@$%! My real fear is that he is right!:{

I have read all these threads with great interest and the seemingly brutal attacks on several members including you Gary... . all I have to say is, where is HBarlow now?He seemed to be the ringleader for all the S and D B. S. I wonder if he read this article and just refuses to chime in. It would be interesting to see just what he has to say about it!!!

DCreed since you would not, or could not tell me the bill that the evil BOOSH signed into law. I did a little research on my own. I’m still unable to find this bill that you say Bush signed, but this is some of what I found.

Senators Feinstein and Snowe have been the lead sponsors of legislation to help prevent manipulation, excessive speculation and fraud in electronic energy markets. Since 2000, the trading of electronic commodities, like oil or natural gas, has been exempt from federal regulation under the so-called “Enron Loophole. ”

You can read the full article here:

. : United States Senator Dianne Feinstein, California :: News Room :.

According to that article the exemption you and the author of the original article like to blame on Bush has actually existed since 2000. Hmmm that would be Klinton’s watch. As noted in this excerpt.

Well, such a report was released by the Senate. However, the president that signed the law in question was William Jefferson Clinton, and the company that strongly lobbied for its passage was Enron.

You will find the link here:

Media Ignore Enron Connection to Higher Oil and Gas Prices | NewsBusters.org

And if you read here;

Last week the CFTC, the U. S. futures industry's main regulator, held a hearing, inviting a dozen exchange chiefs, foreign regulators and financial scholars to sit around a table to help figure it out. "Determining where an exchange is located is difficult, if not impossible," said CFTC Commissioner Walter Lukken in his opening remarks.

The full article can be found here:

CFTC wrestles with regulatory turf

As you can see it is difficult for the CFTC to regulate a foreign entity.

DCreed the difference between you and me, is that you despise Bush, and I despise all career politicians

Your hatred for Bush blinds you to the fact that all of the career politicians only care about one thing, and that is themselves.

The only people I distrust as much as politicians are members of the media. No matter what they say about being impartial they all put their own slant on a story. So take them all with a grain of salt.

Like the old adage says don’t believe anything you read, and only half of what you see.

I'm going to do my part.

When I go to vote this year, my motto is "Whoever is in, is OUT".

Now that is the right attitude.

Do we really want to go there?:-laf

Thanks for the time into research. Maybe while you're at it you could find a decent candidate for president?:-laf

Google Lindsey Williams. Click on the links pertaining to youtube. This might be relevant to what's happening. The Energy Non Crisis.

The video explains who's controlling the price per barrel, but who's controlling the price difference between diesel and gas? :{

The past few days of wild price swings in the price of oil proves that speculation is driving the surge in oil prices. Funny Morgan Stanley, (which I would bet manages at least one hedge fund) forecast $150 oil in the near future and the price jumps! Hmmmmmm seems like the fox is guarding the hen house to me.

And yet,some still believe in supply and demand..... I don't get it man!All of the facts have been gone over repeatedly. I for one have parked my pickup unless absolutely needed and only use the MH once a month and just stay somewhere close to home. I refuse to not let this crisis ruin the time our family enjoys outdoors. It is alot cheaper to pay extra fuel costs versus the alternative... the chances taken with drug rehabiltation or worse yet -teen pregnacy's. I still think keeping the family close helps and RVing helps that!! Sorry to hijack!

Exactly! How does a comment by one azzwipe, pencil-neck-geek cause a $10+ swing in a market so big?! Supply and demand... my foot:mad:

Well the oil speculators need to make enough money to buy the electrical plants to power the future alternative energy vehicles.

Then the cost of electricity will increase tenfold.

AClayton said: "And yet,some still believe in supply and demand..... I don't get it man!"

Supply & Demand still rules. The problem here is that a cartel artificially controls the supply. No speculator worth his salt would bid up the price if they knew there was a good chance the spigot would be opened and they be stuck paying big bucks for (and/or actually having to take delivery of) a commodity now selling for peanuts. They know that chance doesn't currently exist, hence the runaway inflation of the price.

The solution is to drill (Anwar, Bakken, offshore) and put in place the infrastructure (pipelines, refineries) to glut the market with supply when things get out of whack (like now).

If that capability existed, there wouldn't be speculators bidding up the price for fear of getting caught on the wrong side of the pricing pendulum.

The problem lies with those in Congress who are more interested in acquiring power than serving the people. Global warming is caused by the sun. See Mars, Jupiter, etc where temperature increases mirroring those on earth have been recorded. My diesel pickup (or yours) had nothing do with Mars warming up!

If the oil companies were told they could start drilling tomorrow, the price would start coming down today.

No thinking person would argue against the fact that supply/demand essentially controls pricing of goods - but it is EXACTLY the artificial effects of profit-taking investor middlemen that are hitting us all in the bank accounts!

SURE, if there was a viable alternative to traditional fuels we could economically turn to, the price of crude would fall like a rock - but we don't have that alternate supply in amounts sufficient to short circuit the current sources and the monopolies that control them. They know they hold a captive customer base, and are playing the old "whatever traffic will bear" game to the hilt.

IF we were talking bread, beer, or bottled water, we have alternate sources and choices - these items are not necessities without substitutes, or things we can't easily live without - but FUEL is what this country runs on, we HAVE to have it to exist - and those controlling the supply, either by controlling the volume available, OR the selling price, fully know this.

"Supply/demand"? Sure, and historically a good system - but when artificially manipulated and polluted as it is with today's fuel, it becomes the noose that will hang our nation...
