Spray on bedliners

Which bedliners are best? I think I want a spray on and should get it done before the hitch is installed. There are several to chose from and prices vary. What do you recommend?

I did the Line-X prior to installing my 5th wheel hitch about 3 years ago. It seems perfect. But, I am not a hard user - just trips to the dump with stuff from home and moving furniture/junk for others on occasion.

I had rhino liner on my 97' and it didn't hold up. Unless they have changed something, I would suggest another brand. That was 4 years ago, maybe they hold up now?

My Rhino Liner has been great ! Preparation is critical... If the bed isn't prepped correctly no spray in liner will hold up.

If you are installing something like a B&W gooseneck hitch I would install the hitch first. That way the coating can seep down and cover the bare sheetmetal exposed when cutting the hole in the bed.



That said, I think they are all a huge waste of money. $69 will buy you a nice rubber mat right from Dodge that will keep things from sliding around. I have never understood the logic of spray liners, or liners period. The idea is supposedly to protect the bed. From what? For what you spend on the liner, you could repaint the bed before resale. Besides, they all wear out, wear thin and discolor over time.

I agree with Tractor Mike. I have a Line-x that gets a LOT of abuse. It holds up well in all the places that I KNOW were not tainted with oil and grease. I made the mistake of listening to the guy that installed it that he would properly prep it. You could tell 3 months later where the oil residue was left on it because it started to loosen up. Please do your own prep and don't leave it up to the vendor.

I have had with in my last three trucks. Great liner. My guy covers the turnover ball with paper, puts it in the hole and sprays right over the hitch. . Remove ball and paper and you have a gold ball coming up from a LinuX bed. Can't even see the B&W mount, only the ball.

Have Line-X. Was happy for the first 3 months. After that, several pits developed, rust stains have seeped through on front bed/bed side interior seems, and major discoloration on one side from orange juice. Go figure.

I have Line-X. 5 years now, not a single issue. The most abrasive thing I've hauled is probably limestone.

Before buying Line-X I looked at some Rhino trucks. Didn't like the Rhino - thought it was inconsistent.

I've got a rhino. It's never been put to the test because I don't generally use my truck for hard work, so it's hard for me to tell how it would hold up. It looks good though. The only thing I don't like is that the vendor went a little further over on the tops of the bedrails onto the sides of the bed than I would've liked, but i'm probably gonna do the ranch hand headache rack and bedrails anyway so it doesn't really matter.

I had a Rhino in my former '01 and for the most part, was very happy with it. The vender that applied it did a very good job. There may be some spray in companies that offer some advantage in the product itself, but I sincerely believe that the biggest varience comes from the installer. The highest quality product can have its problems if the application is lacking.



My '07 came with the factory drop in liner. Once that one is beat up enough, I may go with another spray in.

I own several trucks and when I went to have the first one down I asked my guy in the dealership who to have do it... .

He sent me across the street and the shop did the prep work and did the bed, rails and tail gate for 250 cash. . that was in 01 and that truck is gone... they've now down 4 others for me... . the 04 dually that I own has 275K miles on the bed and it still fine except were we scratched it with the fork lift... .

I personally think its all in the prep and thickness... we use lots of paint to paint brake shoes... 50 gal a month... our commercial paint guy tells me that the epoxy paints are all the same... but to really make them stick its a matter of prep.....

The bed needs to be clean and scratched for the paint to stick...

ARMA Bedliner..Dishman Dodge

I had the ARMA sprayed in my truck just over a year ago when it was brand new and it is holding up very well. I do have a rubber mat in the bottom to add a bit more protection from dragging things on it. I would get the ARMA again in a heartbeat. I believe a lot of the durability has to do with the application and it being done right. Josh @ Dishman Dodge did an excellent install on the ARMA. Josh you still out there?

Have a Line-X in my 02. Never had any problems with it. I have to admit I have a camper shell on my truck which helps. I clean mine with ProtectAll which I buy at Camping World.

I had both Line-X and Rhino liners. Had to have the Rhino replaced under warently because it did not cure corretly. I would recommend the Line-x.

Don't know if this is true or not - (ask):
Rhino - warranty has to go back where it was installed.
Line-X - any Line-X dealer.

Thought I "needed" one - but now, I'm with the poster that said "why"?
But - If you haul a lot of nasty stuff in your bed - good idea.
