Hello All,

I am trying to purchase Mopar front drive axle U-joints for my '04 3500 SRW 4x4 Dodge Cumins. P/N 5086665AC has 300+ back orders. Anybody has any ideas about what is going on?

Thank you very much.

GR

More than likely the uni-bearings will be destroyed when removing. I would take advantage of this and purchase the Dynatrac system for your front end and have a better system, and for pennies on the dollar since you have the cost of replacing the uni-bearings any way. And the little more that you pay for the Dynatrac system you will get back with better fuel MPG savings. I saw the Dynatrac system at a 4X4 show and was impressed with them, so if my front axle ever has issues I will purchase the Dynatrac setup. .

FYI There is no back ordering with the Dynatrac system.

My guess would be everyone else is experience short life as I did. Mine failed at 25K. The 3rd gen unibearings don't seem to be as "fragile" as the 2nd gens and can withstand more abuse during removal without separating.....

How much of a job is it to change the front axle U-joints. Mine are clicking and rumbling? Is there a good set of instructions for the procedure? Any special tools I will need. I am thinking about doing it this weekend if I know I can get it done by work on Monday. Thanks. . Scotty

PS. My NAPA says they are 44. 00 a piece for the joints and the picture looks like a greaseable joint. Hopefully it will make a longer lasting one too. Scotty
