Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) An interesting stumble

Maybe over reacting but with all of the scary sounding lift pump and VP44 stories.

I am experiencing a random stumble with my 2001 CTD 2500, I have noticed it at a few different times and notice that it might be related to warm up? I usually run my truck for at least 5 minutes before moving but that may not be long enough? I have a Quadzilla XZT-01 and have found many different options for cold temp starts. Any input on these? I'm new to this beast but I like it and want to keep it alive.

The stumble happens when accelerating slowly(i'm not in a big rush, and fuel is $$$$) but happens maybe once or twice every 20 times I drive the truck.

I am going to check the fuel filter and have ordered a fuel pressure gauge to check the pressure. I have also ordered a vulcan lift pump kit to move it next to the tank.

#1 chcek you VP44 wire tap, it can cause this.
#2 check you codes and post them

how do you check codes? is there some type of reference manual that details what they mean? I've heard you turn the ign sw on/off 3 times and it will display some stuff on the odometer?

Turn the ignition switch ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON (leave on) and watch the odometer window and be ready to write down any codes that you see.



You can look up the generic descriptions for trouble codes by doing a Google search. Many code scanner manufacturers web sites have them listed. Search for something like "OBD trouble codes" etc.



For a detailed explanation of what each code means for your model truck and how to trouble shoot the problem, the best reference is Dodge's Diagnostic Procedures Manual. These can be purchased at www.TechAuthority.com

just got to town haven't been in awhile and the fuel is way up there. Found 2 codes so far
P0500

P1693,

last night was the first time these codes showed up, i had been checking the way you said, a few times but didn't see the dreaded injector pump code? but maybe this is it?
