Has anyone had a problem with there built transmission not wanting to shift at WOT? It will shift normal when just driving it but as soon as you mat it, it will not shift unless you get out of it, then it will shift. The engine will keep reving untill rev limiter kicks in but the trans will not shift. Iv had the truck scanned by dodge to see if any codes will come up that my edge didnt pick up and nothing was found. The truck will do it on the stock setting as well as the other settings. transmission guy said it seems electrical but I was hoping someone on here has had or heard of the problem before I start replacing electrical components. Any advise is appreciated. All mods are listed in signature.

Talk to your transmission guy and see what type of converter you had installed. That converter sounds like it is a bit "tight" and your gonna have to either go to a "looser" converter or add more power to your truck. I know it sounds wierd but as you increase converter effiency, you also need more power to turn it. I have seen this on other trucks before as well as my own and it is due to how the converter as well as the VB is set up. I would tell you to add another 100 hp to the truck. That should take care if it but remember I am not there and I am going by the information on your sig taking into account that the transmission behaving as it should.

I should have mentioned that the truck was shifting fine when I first got the transmission built, it was after about 6 months and probably 25,000 miles and 5 hooks on it that the transmission started acting up at WOT. I didnt do anything different to the truck except about a month ago I added bigger injectors to it. But the shifting problem at WOT started about 4 months ago. I really want to go pulling and drag racing but Im afraid that the truck wont shift. Any help is appreciated.

Nuh uh, I ain't buying that. The 1-2 and 2-3 shift, and even the computer demanded OD, is a function of pressure overcoming pressure. Once the lines cross shift happens. :-laf

Something is wrong and you need to run some pressure tests to see what is happening. The gov solenoid and/or transducer would be my first thing to change. It could also be an internal leak from something not seating correctly.

If you notice on my response "I SAID BASE ON WHAT HE WAS POSTING" not based on the new info that was posted later #5 ; AND it is not a 1-2 or 2-3 issue that he was posting about originally. It was about it not wanting to shift at full throttle unless he backed off a bit. He did not mention anything about what gear it was taking place on. BUT yes I do agree with what you posed and would have suggested he change the gov. pressure soleniod and sensor as a first step. BUT I do suspect there is something more. BTW i deal with trannies more than most and based on what was posted later... I would say he hurt a a clutch pack or 2 or 3 who knows since the unit is not in front of me. I am OUT

Take a breath Richard, just funnin' with you a bit. ;)

You are probably correct on hurting a clutch pack, that was my guess also but the gov stuff should be first as it causes many of his symptoms.

Thanks for the responses guys, I will check the sensors and replace them and see what that does. The problem takes place in any gear. Say im in 2nd and mat it, it wont shift out of 2nd until I let off of it then it will hit 3rd hard and hold that gear till I let off of it again for it to hit 4th. I appreciate the suggestions and will update what I find out. Thanks again!

My rebuild is doing the same thing. I'm not a transmission expert, but from what the shop is telling me, the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts are stacking. The tv cable, sensors/switches are okay. Dropped the truck off this morning for them to yank the vb out and do some more drilling and valve/spring swapping.
