I HAD MY ADRENALINE SET ON 10 AND DID A PASS THRU THE GEARS AND WENT TO SLOW DOWN AND NOTICED THAT ENGINE HAD STOPPED. fUEL PRESSURE IS @15#. hAVE NOT TRIED TO SEE IF THERE IS ANY FUEL AT THE INJECTORS AS OF YET, JUST GOT TOWED TO THE HOUSE. i AM TINKING MAYBE THE MAP SENSOR COULD HAVE GONE SOUTH, WAS MAKING 50 PLUS POUNDS OF BOOST!. aNY THOUGHT WOULD BE APPRECIATED. `02:confused:

Its not unusuall for a 2nd gen truck with big injectors

To shut down after a hard WOT run, if you let of the throttle suddenly. If you decel slowly it wont stall. You will have to bleed the injectors to get it running.

I am having the identical problem on my 02 with the quad. I attempted to run the quad at redding on the dyno with the beta dyno setting and it also shut my truck down. After running through fifth gear around 3200 rpm the lift pump pressure would drop to zero as if some brain in the truck cut voltage to it. I was questionable of the carter i had so i installed a fass and dynoed again, same result. What has the ability to shut off the lift pump? Quad glitch or something else? I know its not sucking air in the lines because you can watch the fuel pressure drop to zero as if it were shut off. If you attempt to restart the truck it is fine.

Why does it "often do that"? Does the quad have the ability to shut the engine down and if so is it shutting down the fuel pressure alone or everything?

When I have my TST stacked with a superchip it idle real rough and kill it self after a hard run. It kept killing it self when I dyno'd it.

Let me make sure i understand this in the correct order.

First: vp44 delivers all of its fuel and causes engine to die

Second: engine dies due to lack of fuel from the injection pump and in turn shuts off the lift pump.

As Huff N Puff said, you ran the pump out of fuel. When you back off at the top end, ease out more gradually. When we used to drag race the auto truck, I would shift it to neutral and rev it at the big end.

Also as he said, crack the fuel lines at the head, prime the fuel filter/pump by bumping the starter and letting the lift pump run for the 30 secs about 3 times, then crank until you see fuel from the lines, then tighten them up one at a time.

I forgot to mention that after a hard run or a dyno pull I would put it in neutral as I let off from WOT and give it a couple revs and it would be fine.

There are two different situations here.

One is called air locking the VP44 and as some have said above, it is common on high hp VP44 trucks. When this happens you almost always have to bleed a couple of injectors to get it to restart. I usually do this a few times every race season. Rolling off the throttle instead of chopping it, will keep it from happening most of the time.

The second situation is with the Adrenaline dyno tune. At high rpm's the engine will shutdown as soon as you lift on the throttle, no matter how easy you try to lift. On the positive note, you just need to wait about 20 seconds and it will restart. You don't have to bleed the injectors. As someone else said, quad made no bones about this not being a street tune.
