just wondering wich smarty to buy. I tow a 15k 5er. sould i buy the jr/sr? i know the jr lowers EGT guite a bit How does the sr do on lowering egts compared to the jr? i want to mod my truck pretty heavy in the future like twins, south bend, injectors bla bla bla you get the idea. not too be a smart butt.

im looking do order my smarty in the next 5- 10 days along with my guages.

after smarty what should i do next? clutch, injectors. all ready have exaust and intake done. just looking for some oppions. on what to do next.

If you are planning on doing twins I would go with smarty senior. You will need a clutch afterwards if you plan on running the higher settings after that it depends on where you want to go with your power levels.

I always want to see a customer save money. Go for the senior if you have future power update plans.

And I know MADS will always be there with new bells and whistles :D

Thanks

MSchneider still has an open unanswered question...

for example: my truck at 24k towing with 120hp injectors and stock turbo used to climb the grade i live up around 50mph feathering the throttle, keeping the EGT's at around 1300 degree's.

with smarty turned up i could pull the same grade and load at around 60mph. now that i have my twins setup 85mph and still pulling... i am running the beta tune previous to the new revo tune.

hey bob can the TNT tune be downloaded with 3500rpm limit. i haven't got up to valve springs yet.

Jr 1,2,3 are similar to 4. 11 1,3,5... so EGT's would be the same. The Jr thou will offer lower smoke, with the new beta tune, than the Sr on 4. 11. I am not sure about TNT smoke thou...

But yeah the Jr is a basic programmer, the Sr is best for twins, injectors, etc.

We just bought a Teton fifth-wheel that probably weighs 16,500... towing from the Cajone pass in CA to Vegas, and through the Rockies, I had to really be struggling to have my EGT's go above 1250 with smarty Sr. on level 3.

With all of the different softwares and adjustability of the Sr. I don't see any reason to get the Jr.

different strokes for different folks. My friend's father wanted a recomendation for better mileage and better power while towing. He's not a hot rodder, and wouldn't know what the various adjustments are even FOR w/ the Sr.

The Jr. is a great product in that instance. Install it and enjoy!

jess you now have a choice of 4 levels at a touch of the pad and yes you can go back to 4. 11 software.

Smarty REVOlution software

For the first time the Cummins engine performance tuning software can be customized directly by the

user.

With the Smarty S-06 and S-04 this becomes reality. The first one in the industry !!!

The Revolution starts here…

What has changed?

At first glance not too much… Smarty's update file now contains all truck models from 2003 to 2007

for the Dodge Cummins 5. 9L Common Rail. The new software update is smaller in size than the

previous ones, so it takes less time to update Smarty.

The new update is perfectly compatible with the previous firmware versions.

It is still possible to download into the truck a ready-to-use performance software , just like today. You

do not need to become a rocket scientist to tune your truck, Smarty will do it for you.

Yet , over time your truck's needs may ( or better worded WILL ) change and you need to adapt the

tuning software to these changes.

Today, this becomes reality!

When you enter the “ECM update“ menu on Smarty you will find a newly added chapter:

“Adjust Options“.

Once entered, this menu allows you to choose among several items and levels of customization.

The items are :

Speed-limiter

RPM Limiter***

Shift limiter***

Torque Management levels

Injection timing

Rail Pressure

Wastegate

The levels are :

Speed-limiter

From 25 to 250 mph in one mile increments

RPM Limiter***

# 0 - Stock

# 1 - 4000 RPM

Shift Limiter***

# 0 - Stock (On)

# 1 - Off ( also shift light indicator will be turned off )

Torque Management

# 0 - Default

# 1 - Stock

# 2 - Mild

# 3 - Moderate

# 4 - Wild ( aftermarket clutch / AT Transmission recommended )

Injection Timing

# 0 - Default

# 1 - Stock

# 2 - for stock injectors

# 3 - for aftermarket Injectors ( less advanced than # 2 )

# 4 - for fuel economy ( more timing advance than level # 2 )

Rail pressure

# 0 - Default

# 1 - Stock

# 2 - Mild

# 3 - Moderate

# 4 - Wild (aftermarket injectors recommended)

Wastegate ( for 2004. 5 and up trucks only )

# 0 - Stock (On)

# 1 - Off ( for aftermarket turbo )

The above descriptions are for the REVO standard software.

How does it work?

If you prefer the Smarty standard software configuration, simply skip the “Adjust Options” menu and

choose the CaTCHER level you prefer, as in previous Smarty software.

If you want to change the default setting of any (or all…) of the customizable items, you can enter the

“Adjust Options” menu, navigate with the “ > “ and “ < “ keys to the item you want to customize and

enter your choice. Done! Smarty will do the rest.

At the end of the items list, Smarty will store your selections in its memory. In this way, your preferred

selections will be applied every time you program your truck.

As a simple example, if you set the Speed-limiter to “100”, Smarty will always use that value for all

ECM updates. That's, until you change the value again or return Smarty back to stock.

I was thinking the TNT was a beta, sorry. I guess what I really am asking is, can I just somehow download the Revolution software for the "options" (tm,timing,rp), and maintain the 411 tune?

So like if I download the new software with all the options, then I go back to the 411, will I lose the options. I would like to have the (my cake) options, but (and eat it too) maintain the 411 software:).

I have my mods so perfectly tuned to the 411, I would hate to mess it up.

Thanks, Jess

well i ordered the sr. bob is shiping with the revo loaded up. my ? is what level should i not exceed when towing, and empty? truck is mostly stock G56 stock clutch. towing a 15k 5er. what setting # is best for towing?

I have gone back and forth from 411 and REVO and it should be the same. It loads fine, but... .

According to Bob during a previous phone conversation, he says that what you and I want is there in the REVO and I suppose also in the TNT. But I can't seem to find that same combination as the 411-211D using SW3. I get more smoke (TST disconnected). He suggested some additional rail pressure. I still am getting more continuous smoke when pulling hard then using 411-211D.

I tow RV's for a living, they're white! However the smoke that is settling on the trailers is a gray dust and is really not an issue when washing it. But since I usually can pay the dealer to wash the trailer (reinbursable from my company) I don't like driving in with a smoked up trailer, he may claim it's oily and charge me additionally an hourly rate for clean up, this has happened to me... road dirt is acceptable. I have had smoke that was oily, now that's a problem washing off as soon as water hits it.

Bob,

Now I am really confused!

After reading the parameters in your post above I saw one that I had never noticed before and that is the RPM Limiter.

When I was on the ATS Mustang Dyno a few months ago I had the Smarty REVO loaded with SW9-wild TM4-wild Inj Timing 3-aftermarket RP 2-mild and wastegate off. After a couple of runs they suggested I go to the TNT. I didn't want to because I was concerned about going over 3400 RPM. I have never loaded the TNT until today because your post showed that I can run stock RPM with the TNT.

I checked to make sure I have all the latest downloads. While loading the TNT into my truck I never saw and parameter for RPM!!!

So what's the deal Bob? I see three astericks but no footnote. Is there still another "Race" version for the TNT?

And where are the beta's to be tested. I signed up for that, at your request, with my email to you but have never heard or have seen anything! I even left a voice message and still nothing!

Peter

Ok I think I get it now or at least some of it. The TNT also has a download TNT-R which I suppose is only available upon request.

Still wondering if there are Beta's for the REVO and TNT.
