Bob Where Are Ya?

Not sure, I thought he lifted, but he says no, I actually think it may be the turbo bogging a little. Thats one reason I didn't log that as a data point for the gains. The third graph (not as much boost and lower numbers) still had a dip, but not as much.

Old thread, but...

Performance on par with the CFM+, aluminum contruction, drilled and tapped ports at no extra cost, dipstick in stock location and about 100 bucks cheaper than the competition? Wow, what's not to like here??

I do believe I found my new intake horn! :)

Is not anyone concerned with an intake made of metal that it's going to transfer underhood heat and warm up intake air?

Yes, the stock one is metal also, but from what I understand, the CFM is not.

Is the CFM as "tough" physically as the others?

Is heat transfer a factor?

We want heat transfer. That air going in the motor isn't colds by any means...

Cool, I have had my GDP intake and grid delete for a while, I didn't know it was putting up those numbers, I was just hoping for a little cooler EGT's and maybe some mileage, oh yeah it looks really cool and didn't break the bank. I think its time to buy some more toys from GDP.

I knew from the get go, after installing the GDP intake horn, that my truck had a noticeable torque increase. I was breaking my tires loose with very little effort, where before the install, I had to hit the fuel fairly hard to spin them.

I am not using the grid heater delete, and this is a great improvement all by itself, just did not know how good until now.

Thank You Erik, for testing the GDP horn, and Thank You Richard for making the intake horn.

That CFM unit looks very similar in design to the Stefan Kondolay one I have on my truck - just a difference in materials - the Kondolay one is stainless steel...

Gotta continue to question the use of a heat conductive material. Admittedly, I haven't read the entire article, but why is "Better Heat Insulation" being touted??

Quoted from Erik's linked article:

"Last in line was the composite manifold from CFM+. This piece is the lightest of the bunch, and promises even better heat insulation than the aluminum units... ... ... The CFM really shines down low. At the 1900rpm mark, the CFM+ manifold delivered a whopping 57. 7HP & 159. 53lb/ft! 2150rpm showed 23. 65hp and 57. 88 lb/ft of torque. "

Surely, I've missed something here, but so far I'm kinda liking the CFM+. The Stainless piece from DTT is a work of art though.

We're open minded. . Please educate!

Great data... I am looking at the GDP 2 mic fuel filter kit and was concerned about the fact that the only horn I could use was theres, but looks like that is not a factor.

bear in mind the power quotes were for a 3rd gen and their intakes are much narrower than a 2nd gens. ;)

My testing has shown much better gains with the 3rd gen intakes but the early reports I am getting on the 2nd gen (24v) are seeing a bit in the mileage dept. Still playing with the 12 v's where the head may be the biggest issue.
