Help! Truck Just Plain Quit!

I was getting onto the freeway and the truck quit running. Turned the key and it would start but, only run a few seconds. Had to have it towed home.



Filter? Lift Pump? Or what else?



2004, 24 valve Calif. model 235HP 460TQ.



Any comments would be appreciated.

How many miles? Any change in starting, any misses while driving, any hesitation? Notice anything any changes?

Check for codes. Also check to see if filter is empty - indicates a bad lift pump. Lift pump would be my guess at this stage.

sounds like an LP to me as well, some times they will still run the cp3 will suck fuel through the filter and dead pump, but not always!



If so look into airdog or fass

Open your filter drain tap and bump the starter. If the lift pump is working a steady flow of fuel should be pouring on the ground.

The truck has 91,000 miles. It has been running and starting without any problems. Driving between 60 mph, I'm getting around 21 mpg.

Just today, it just quit.

Thats exactly what happened when my lift pump turtled.

I agree with everyone else that it's likely a failed lift pump.

10-4 good buddies! The dealership will want to put your new pump in the tank, if you take it to them.

Thats what it did to me last August at 73K. It just died. The dealer ship put in the intank kit under warrentee and $100 deductable. A month later they returned my $100. If its an 04 it has 100k on engine parts.

Thats good to know. I figured they'd find some way to claim warranty done, kinda like they do they "lifetime drivetrain warranty(minus diesels)"
