I am due in a couple of weeks to upgade to a DTT transmission with billet input shaft, billet flex plate, billet 3rd gear drum and the rest of the standard DTT upgrade. Am I safe running my truck on the Edge Comp setting # 1 while hauling my Lance truck camper. I drove uo today from Buckeye Az to Durango Co. and did use the # 1 setting. I don't drive too fast, about 60 mph in 4th gear. It handled all the hills except one in fourth gear because I had to slow down due to the sharp curves and I finished that one out in 3rd. Comments welcome and encouraged. Thanks!

DTT longevity.

My no billet anything DTT held up fine w/an EDGE EZ and Mach 1. 6's. I carried a 2000# popup, had 285's and 3. 54 gears. You should be good to go. This was on my old '99. I also had the smart controller and a Pacbrake on it. My stocker shuddered going into o/d with just the EZ and my load.

I'm pretty sure the question was about the stock trans. If so, I've seen guys run way more power than I'd feel comfortable doing on a stock trans, but that's me. You made it and are OK, so not to worry - you'll be DTT'ed before long.

I have no billet anything in my DTT - but don't tow either.

My stock 47re has been slipping on levels 3-5 unloaded for almost a year now. (I very rarely use those settings) But on level 1 I pull 6k every once in a while and I can't hear or feel it slip. I've got 170k on stock transmission. I've also "cooked" the transmission at 250+ degrees while plowing last winter. It's still kickin for now... .

I just recently replaced my transmission and as everyone says I ran edge on tow mode pulling 32ft 5er with about 15k lbs on it. transmission did slip like crazy but it did help spool up for the initial pull. As far as now with my new suncoast transmission, the sky is the limit, although i didnt have it long enough to really try anything with it before i put 150 mach 4s in it and then twin turbos then blew a head gasket, im anxious to see what she can do, hopefully wednesday will be christmas for me.
