New Goerend VB & TC installed a few weeks ago. :) I have been running the Pac brake activated with truck in 2nd gear to avoid using the service brakes in slower twisty downhill runs. Lately my brake will not engage immediately like it used to. The brake engages, but not immediately like it used to. Any ideas? I used to jab the throttle and release at 25-40mph and the brake would immediately engage and pull the truck speed down. Not anymore..... Brake engages fine in Drive only. Am I missing something?

Weird. Mine works perfectly with the Goerend goodies, just as before...

I have had some issues with the pin going in the ECM harness. For whatever reason, when it's cold out, the brake will sometimes not work, or cycle on and off. If I re-seat the pin it works just fine. My next step may be to put some dielectric grease in the hole in the hopes that a better connection is made.

I have mine in the shop, Left Coast Diesel in Dublin, CA today. I was not able to get a manual downshift from overdrive to 3rd at highway speed, such as 50 MPH. Erik at Left Coast Diesel spoke with Dave at Goerend and TJ at PacBrake. PacBrake is sending a new updated controller. From what I gather since I've not been in the direct loop of convesations, a controller problem is occuring on stock as well as exhaust brake Dodges.

You might contact PacBrake directly to see if this may be the case.

Good luck!

Mine does that too. I have noticed that if I want to do that I need to have the PB switched off first.

PacBrake is sending a new updated controller.
To address that issue? I thought it was normal.

Apparently PacBrake said the new controller should address this problem. I would be nice to have it fixed since I don't use the OD lockout unless I'm in the hills or have a tough grade to decline. I'll know after next week.

Ohh. . I see now, you have the BD lock-out.

I don't and on mine if the PB switch is on and I am in OD with Tow/Haul on or off (makes no difference)- I cannot double tap the Tow/Haul button for a downshift from 4th to 3rd.

edit Thanks a bunch Bob for posting, I talked with PacBrake today about this, they sure are great people to deal with. The newer controler is not just for the BD lock-out owners.

It allows use of the T/H button in the normal way with the PB switch on so if you are accustom to the "double tap" procedure DC left us with to go from TH/OD on - to - TH/OD off then thats what you need. Otherwise its not a big deal to leave it as is.

Basically for the 05 owners the older controller "locks out" the use of the TH button in either direction, thats what I see on mine anyway.

That makes sense, now I understand what that lockup sense wire was doing. You have to release lockup to downshift on these transmissions, either by pulsing the lockup or modifying the VB to allow a downshift locked.

After reading your post and since I had just bought my PB I contacted them for one of these, not really liking it though at all. I started a new thread here in hopes other 05 owners will chime in on how theirs is operating. Let us know how you like it.
