Manual Transmission coolers that work great

Bully Dog Decieved Me!!!!!

I put a Cooler Tubz Stainless intake horn manufactured by one of our members on my '03. I ran a test by starting from 30mph and accelerating to 60mph. With the stock horn I avg'd 8. 5 seconds and with the Cooler tubz I dropped it to 7. 5 seconds. That is a fairly significant increase I would say. The throttle response is definitely faster. You definitely see why an aftermarket intake horn is beneficial after you remove the stock piece. I have a horn to install on my dad's truck. It is similar to mine other than it has a Edge EZ on 40hp and no cool hose. It will be interesting to see how it fairs. I hope the mpg goes up and towing power is increased. Time will tell.

Well, have you seen any mpg increase? Do you still like it?

I'm looking into getting one myself. Did you tap into it for a boost pressure gauge?

Hey Casey,long time no see.

The 3rd gens see a bigger improvement than the 2nds. I am going to do some testing in the future to see if the head itself is the biggest stumbling block on the 12v's

Did it do anything for your EGTs? I would be interested for towing purposes. My go-fast days are long-gone. Except for the AFE, my truck is still stock.

Thanks... Steve

Bob,

It has been a while, hope you are well. Are the Rattlin Rams still having get togethers?

I am hoping the intake helps with egts while towing. Would you recommend removing the grid heater to remove any restriction?

Casey

The SoCalRR trips have been mostly Glamis/Pismo lately.

The AFE 3rd Gen intake has allowed lower rpm towing, improved mileage being a good result.

I averaged over 14 mpg towing the trailer roundtrip to A camp out near Lake Arrowhead. We were at about 5100 ft elevation. On the 4 lane part of the climb I was pulling at 65 mph.

The grid heater is a bit of a restrictor don't have the numbers in front of me though

I have the Stefan Kondolay SS version intake - very nice piece - and while the HP/TQ numbers look impressive in the grid heater delete dyno runs, the one I have seen and posted is for a 3rd generation truck. Still waiting and wanting to see the same W/WO grid delete dyno graph for a 2nd generation truck...
