Hello,

I had posted a few weeks ago about my auto hunting from 3rd to second and back and I got little response. Thanks for nothing. The one response was wrong. It was not noise. It was the solenoid and the other electronic device in the transmission. It was getting really bad. I had it fixed, was due for fluid change anyway.

I talked with a lady at DTT and she told me what to do and she was right.

She told me it could have toasted my transmission.

She said the noise thing is 3rd to overdrive not 2nd to 3rd.

Maybe some people should be a little more careful before holding forth here.

I still value this forum greatly.

Glad you got it fixed.

Dtt is a great group. Fixed it and they didn't ask for $$$

If I wasn't so busy, maybe I could of helped, but you know, I have my own things to do.

We usually want people to use the search feature, this is duplicated many times a week.

That spin on filter, which looks like it is for the trans, will cause you some grief!!

If it plugs up, you will loose lube to the OD section.

Your original question sounded way too complex for the average Joe. That's a question for an expert auto transmission mechanic, so don't get your shorts in a wad.

Best advice I can give anyone buying a truck for hauling heavy is to get a 5 or 6 speed standard shift.

Hello,

Maybe some people should be a little more careful before holding forth here...

Does anyone else understand what the heck that means????

Yeah, it really sounds like you do. Tell ya what, I'll give you my POS Ford, you give me your Ram, then you can go over to the Powerjoke website and talk with those guys, because you sound a lot alike.

There are a ton of people on this forum who have forgotten more about the Dodge Ram than you'll ever learn in your lifetime, and they are more than willing to give up their time to help other members on this forum. So you didn't get an answer right away. Given the amount of posts you have, show a little more humility, before acting like a horse-toothed mule.

Now, if you want an opinion... .

If one of the solenoids in your 47RE/RH was acting up, your transmission is on its way out. My '97 gasser had the 46RE (a similar, weaker version of yours) and did the same thing, hunted from O/D to 3rd. I had the governor pressure solenoid replaced in Hays, KS. A month later, the governor pressure sensor had to be replaced, this time in Phoenix, AZ. As I was coming back to MD, my transmission let go all over I-695. A Jasper reman'd 46RE solved the problem, to the tune of $4000 installed.

This thread was reported to me. The reason given was "Is this really necessary?"

I can't really find where this thread is in persuit of the stated objectives of the site. For that reason, I am locking it. There has been enough said on all sides. I am locking the thread.
