i have an 06 with no kitty and the drone was so bad with a hushpower muffler i went back to stock. so much for false advertising for no drone with a hushpower muffler. $200 down the drain. emailed them last week and still no response. i won't hold my breath for a response!

I go back to stock, if anybody is interested I do have Hushpower muffler and 4 "Exhaust guide for sale. :)

Shuttleworth mufflers.

Paul Fox@Orange Muffler installed a Shuttleworth low restriction diesel muffler on my '07. It is low restriction but not a flow through design which drove me nuts on my '99. Part# is D13-4040. Zero drone, but slightly louder than stock. His# is 714-997-9110. The guy's been in the exhaust business forever.

Thanks, but not sure, if I want to try another muffler. Somehow I think aftermarket push garbage on us and we keep buying that, because of their claims. Till somebody come with exhaust with no drone and money back warranty, if drone I would stay away from any system it is not worth it. $400 just go to drain for nothing. But thanks anyway I am glad is working for you.

I was charged $175 for the Shuttleworth. It splices right where the stock one sat. Paul is very knowledgable on the subject of noise suppression. I didn't believe him until driving in his QC w/cat 04. 5 which would be more succeptible to drone than my reg. cab. It works. He also supports the theory that the flow through's holes fill up w/soot and turn into a straight pipe. If anybody wants to return to stock which is the quietest way to go,he's got plenty sitting in his salvage pile.

On my reg. cab, he did have to tack one of the hangers he removed from the stocker onto the Shuttleworth and connect it to the stock rubber frame mount. It was the same dimension as the stocker but some alteration was necessary. I don't know if there is a true muffler out there that just splices in the stock location.

CORSA Performance Exhausts Announces New High-Performance Diesel Mufflers

In August 7, 2008 / Default

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CORSA Performance Exhausts has expanded their diesel offerings and applied their patented drone-busting technology to the newest lineup of high-performance mufflers for diesel applications.

CORSA's dB Series Diesel Mufflers are made from 100% premium stainless steel and can be fitted to all non-DPF-equipped Chevrolet Duramax 6. 6L, 6. 5L and 6. 2L trucks, Ford Powerstroke 6. 0L and 7. 3L trucks and pre-2008 Dodge Cummins 5. 9L trucks. The mufflers, which are designed with 4-inch inlets and outlets, are expanded and notched for clamp-on or weld-in installation.

The dB Series Diesel Mufflers feature a straight-through, non-restrictive design and the company's exclusive Reflective Sound Cancellation (RSC) technology, which delivers a comfortable, drone-free interior cabin at cruising speed while still providing an aggressive sound during acceleration.

"Our latest product offering fulfills the market's request for a no-drone, high-performance diesel muffler to replace factory or aftermarket mufflers," said Jim Browning, Sr. , founder and president, CORSA Performance Exhausts. "Plus, it allows CORSA Performance to be a one-stop shop for diesel owners wanting great sound and increased horsepower, whether they prefer our individual dB mufflers or complete cat-back exhaust systems. "

So dunno how good it is but CORSA is known for their quality and it usually reflects it in the price.

I'm with Matt. In May's issue of Diesel World there was a 3rd party review of the Corsa exhaust system designed specifically for Dodges to eliminate the drone. I am familiar with Corsa, as I used to have an 03 Cobra and many of my fellow musclecar buddies were running Corsa on their cars. They make a pretty good product based on what I've heard from other individuals although I don't have first hand experience myself. When i'm out of warranty, this will be the exhaust system i'll be considering.

It makes a BIG difference on drone if the truck is loaded or unloaded so when people give their findings they should report on that.

I have the Borla kit on my truck and there is no drone unloaded and almost none loaded(very faint). The muffler is a straight through glass pack style though which does give more of a gasser sound than an Aeroturbine style.

I read a post about a month ago and I didn't understand what the guy ment when he said gasser sound. I heard an Aeroturbine for the first time in person and NOW I know what he means. It sounded awesome, you can really hear the turbo and aggressive sound. When you go to a glasspacked style it cuts away a lot of that "mechanical" sound and gives you a mellow deeper rumble like a gasser.

yup, I'm always harping on packed mufflers on turbo applications... they eat up all of the turbine sound, and they take all the sharp edges off of the exhaust note :(

it's all personal preference, but I just love the pure sound these engines produce. I don't mind a muffled system, don't misunderstand me there, but if it's muffled, I can't stand when the mufflers are packed! :(

My truck sounds great unloaded with no drone. I towed 12k from Irvine to SF, and I was ready to go back to a straight pipe. The drone was actually worse with the muffler than without. I needed ear plugs any time I went up a grade.

I'm with you... That's why I'm running a Donaldson at the moment. I am considering switching out my Donaldson to an Aeroturbine 5050XL just to mellow the exhaust a little, but I'm wondering if the "resonated" portion of that muffler will kill the turbo whine?

The Corsa that Matt mentioned sounds good, but I am not sure about going back to a 4" core muffler. I like the DEEP sound of a 5" core muffler.

what size donaldson? you could try an additional Donaldson or Nelson resonator up front.

I too have been curious/interested in trying a Corsa... might have to break down and try one!

I'm running a M090535. There isn't really any space for anything else under my truck. The stock downpipe goes into a 4" to 5" adapter to the M090535 to a 5" to 4" adapter to the stock tail pipe. Nice clean install, looks factory. But it *is* loud at times.

CORSA could work, but look like they sell only complete system , but not this drone elimination muffler it self.

If you guys try the Corsa, please be sure to post up the results. I wish I could put it on mine right now, but I don't wanna take a chance on my warranty.

Finally I was contacted by Hushpower and was told they are working on drone problem with some kind of resonator. I was promise that they will send me one. Hopefully they will send it and I can try that. Will post the results.

i emailed hushpower several times about the drone and never got a reponse from them. what about those of us that went back to the stock system?they should buy back the mufflers due to their false advertising of no drone.
