I am in bad need of a fuel tank module for my '99. The bottom of the module is worn bad enough that 1/2 way around the screen is loose. My Dodge dealer says he can't get them any more and wants to sell me an in tank pump. I just put an Airtex pump on in April so don't want to go the in tank route. Any sources for the module?

The problem with the draw straw

Thanks for the quick reply blacksheep, does a draw straw replace the whole module or replace a part of the module?
You need to keep more than half a tank to keep from drawing air, which can raise havoc with your VP44. The stock module is too restrictive. The intank pump is a good way to move the fuel out of the tank,if you gang it up with a pump out side the tank, you will net over 20psi at the VP.

The larger pick up tube, like a draw straw will loose prime and the last 1/4 tank of fuel could be useless to you.

Why not just rip the screen off the current module and put it back in? My AirDog has put 19 psi to the VP for 300,000 miles using the factory module, it is not too restrictive for your Airtex. By removing the screen you eliminate the screen possibly plugging up and becoming restricted.

Godspeed,
Trent

The metal sides that allow it to slide down tight against the bottom of the tank are real wore and have been putting metal shavings into the tank. Also saw some crud in the bottom of the tank. I would think a screen would be useful unless a filter between the tank and the pump would be a better option.

Well, lost the bid on EBAY. Search is still on. I like the price of the draw straw but don't like the idea of losing any useful tank capacity and still wondering about some type of screen or pre-pump filter.
