Warning for all drivers from Hemet Ca area

I understand your dilemma about the economy, however this is the best time buy an RV while the prices are down.

As far as choosing between a Cougar and a Eagle, I'd go for the Eagle hands down. When we were looking to purchase a new 5er, we looked at the Cougars. They are nice looking on the inside and my wife was highly impressed. But if you look at the skinny frame and the little axles and the poor fit and finish in the storage compartments and inside the cabinets, you'll quickly walk away from them.

JCasper,

Go to Curtis Trailer, they will treat you right and get you the lowest quote w/o any hassles. We've had our Cougar 314EFS since 10/05 (almost 3 yrs) and have put approx 8000 miles on it. The cost out the door was $25,800 which was less than most of the truck campers out there...

We have replaced the Mission tires that came on it in JUL07 and I had to rearrange the batteries in the front compartment because the person that installed them at the dealership did an adequate job, but not up my crazy anal standards. It has been a great rig for us. Never seen the dealership. I don't know if they are all this good, but based on my experience, I have to disagree with Grizzly.

My advise to you is to go to the RV Show and you can quickly figure out the best floor pan for your needs and you can compare the quality. Once you figure out what you want, its just like buying a car... get the unit that just got delivered to the dealership, not the one thats been sitting around getting abused by customers and salesmen. Thoroughly inspect it before you pay...

Hope this helps,

Louis

My current trailer we bought from Curtis in May of 07. It is an entry level model, but works well for us. It's 2007 Keystone Springdale 267. I plan on keeping it until I get the spare cash to purchase what I want.

Curtis treated me well and I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again.

I have put close to 10,000 miles on my cheap trailer in the year and a half I have had it and I will say it shows some wear, but not too bad considering where we've been with it.

I get to store it inside 99% of the time it's not being used so I feel that also helps a lot with keeping it looking nice.

By far the quality with Jayco will be better. The warranty service will also be better. I have towed many different units and the Jayco's tow better and have less problems with quality at time of delivery than any other trailer in the same price category.

No, not all Cougars are that good and not all are bad. Consider yourself one the more fortunate ones.

I agree with Karl above. My experiences and opinion are identical to his.
