A Labor Day short cut with the family. :-laf:-laf:-laf About 5 miles of 4lo. 32000 miles on the stock tires. Guess a trip to Costco this week for some new Michelins, and no more 4 lo and sharp rocks.

I'd contact the manufacturer of the tire and let them know you never go off road and noticed this just the other day and you're wondering if they can tell you what happened? A friend of mine (way back) had some BFGs on a van, hit the steel on the side of a bridge that sliced the side-wall. He called BFG, told them he almost killed himself and family when the tire "just went pop" as he was going down the road. They sent an area Rep to look at the tire. Next thing you know he's at a local BFG dealer with a letter to install 4 new tires - no charge. How much does a phone call cost = less than new tires. Never hurts to try.

You need new tires. You ruined 'em, you should pay for 'em. Some of the posts to your question indicate they may believe otherwise, blame somebody else is the mantra of today it seems.

I found an 80. 00 off deal, at Costco. Looks like that is where I will be on Monday. 6 tires, Michelin LTX M/S LT 235/80r/17E.

Ditto, plus your life is worth the cost of good tires.

OK guys - I was sharing a story from the day (talking 1983 +/-), and then the thought came to me "you never know what financial or other position someone is in", is this his daily driver - is he real short of cash and hauling his family. So, I threw out the story and "suggested" not recommended - it's up to the individual and their particular circumstances - just offered a possible path.

I agree with the "you did it you take responsibility" - I'm real fortunate to be able to afford (or go into credit card debit to do so) that "responsibility".

Best regards to all.

regardless I think its sad that the tires did that. I have been wheeling for years and have never had a tire do that and if it was somewhere you were taking your 3500 I would deffinatly see about the company doing something about it.

The tires do sound "defective" to me also.

The tires are still holding air. They are the general tires that came new on the truck. I am glad I did not have my trailer with me, I would not have liked to tow my trailer like that.

If I did not have the inner tires I am not sure I would have driven the truck home at all. After the new tires go on I will keep the truck out of 4lo laf:-laf and just stay on the graded dirt roads.

I really should not have taken the truck up that road, but tires with 32000 miles should not have come apart like that.

That is the risk you take going off-road. YOU need to replace the tire. NOT pass it off as a mfg defect. That is fraud in my book.

It takes very little to do that, if you drive over the right thing. A steel post hiding in the grass can do a number on a tire. Been there, done that. Sliced the sidewall.

indifference

I have had these crappy mick-thom bajamtz Ive replace 3 tires due to chuncking and splitting down to the cord with less in the first 6kmiles of owning them. and this is just driving in the city,70% beach sand 20% rest freeway. my driveway to a curb to my parking spot daily. they have replaced these no problem from my local big O. sometimes there are defective tires. your truck is a 4wd truck that they from factory installed at's on it stock. Honestly I think there is to many places selling products that they dont back. most places now days you have to buy addit-product warranties so that you are covered. regardless if you have a warranty thats what its for. that product and the reliability in this product. far as all the personal honesty, character, whats it anyones business of someone else's choices. sometimes people think they grow things and just have to tell people how they should be... . lame.
