Cab Roof Lights Placement

My 2500 did not come with cab roof lights. I purchased a set from RECON and before I start drilling holes is there any factory measurements for mounting? Wondering if there is an easy way to drop the headliner, and will I find factory harness to plug into? Any of you folks done this and if so what do I need to be aware of. Thanks.

if the truck isn't a factory cab light truck i doubt there will be any harness for the lights, but if you have an overhead console you can get a factory harness that plugs right in. The lights are not hard to position, under the headliner there are knockouts (holes) in the roof support structure for the factory lights, i reccomend using a holesaw that just fits inside the hole and use that to make your pilot hole, then go from the outside in with a unibit to make the hole for the light itself, put some masking tape around where you'll be drilling to minimize paint chipping. as far as an easy way to drop the headliner, my suggestion is just take it out, unbolt everything that goes on it and pull it out, more work but better than messing it up.

yes under the headliner you will see just drop the headliner it's easy to do with the headliner out of the truck it has a frame with circles holes in it thats is where they go

but that headliner needs to come out

Factory Harness for mine I was quoted $271 I think I make my own if I was putting in new if possible. reason I know this I needed to purchase the OH console wiring harness like $30+ and they keep trying to sell me the whole thing, NOT!!!

look on e bay for a harness from time to time there are trucks that are parted out on there

Agreed. I bought the harness and lights off ebay for about $50. now I just got to find the time to pull the headliner.

Be sure to have something on the paint that you can drill into.
This will help prevent the paint from pulling away when the drill breaks through the metal.

If you haven't put those Recons on, return them and get the OEM Dodge light kit, about 100x better quality.
