I use a Sta-Bil 1 QT bottle, it has a 'squeeze to fill' measure chamber attached... real easy to measure the number of ounces of Valvoline SynPower Diesel Injector Cleaner "Endorsed by Cummins, Inc". I use 1 oz. /8 gal. . plus a bit more.

I keep several empty plastic water bottles. I leave the cap off for several weeks to make sure they are dry inside. I them measure the amount of additive and pour in bottle. I then take electrical tape and tape around the top of the fluid level. That way I don't have to keep measuring and the bottles are small enough that they pour into the tank without any problem.

That Power Service is #1 is no surprise to me. But it really surprises me that a greater percentage of people don't use an additive than use Howes. I mean, come on! It's the diesel treat. If a country singer sings about it it has to be good! The first additive I used was Howes. Then when I started regular use with the ULSD I switched to PS, and Howes every third bottle or so. Before this thread I had never known anyone who used MMO. Now I'm tempted to try it.

FWIW, when I first got mine, I used PS/MMO.

I was impressed with it for a while and it did a fair job for me.

Lately, Iv been using 24 oz 2 stroke when fueling and it seems to work better.

Engine seems to idle quieter.

I still run a qt of PS thru about every third tank.

I guess its a matter of whatever works for the individual.

I use OPTI-LUBE summer blend, 1 oz. to 20 gal fuel. I store it in a small MSR fuel bottle which just fits in the door map pocket, with a 2 oz. measuring cup marked for 25 gal. fill. All are then laid on a small stack of shop rags neatly folded, along with a partial roll of toilet paper that will fit in the map pocket. I use the TP to wipe out the measuring cup, then discard.

I also carry a quart MSR fuel bottle for long trips. Hollowed out a small piece of beadboard (2") that will fit under the driver's seat. I laid the fuel bottle in it so it will not slide under your feet. Works like a champ.

Pick the right container

I had a gallon of Opti-lube XPD start to leak in the garage. I transferred the product into the other Opti-lube gallon containers and the remainder into a Howes plastic jug I had emptied. 2 weeks later the Howes container had fallen over, when I tried to pick it up it was almost jelly. Opti-lube had almost dissolved the Howes container. In transferring the Opti-lube into a glass container I got quit a bit on my hands(should have had rubber gloves on) so I called Centurion for an MSDS which they quickly e-mailed but a later e-mail to them explaining the issue and asking for info on what types of containers to use and not use got no response at all. My point is be very careful with these additives especially when using non manufacturer containers. I wouldn't have any additive inside my cab period nor in the bed without being in another outside container to catch the drips and odors. This stuff dissolves stuff including I suspect bed liners, paint, you name it. I'm thinking all "plastic" containers must be rated and marked somehow. Anybody got the skinny on what's what there? tks in advance, john.

I can add to this post. My buddy gives me his spent Redline fuel additive bottles which I use for alternately dispensing PS and Stanadyne Performance Formula. After a few uses the Redline bottle goes into meltdown! There's something in Stanadyne and PS that attacks the Redline bottle.

I run Caterpillar fuel conditioner in my '06. I don't add it every time, just a couple ounces about every 3rd tank. The Caterpillar stuff is really strong, even has a VERY strong odor to it. Put some in my in-laws trucks and tractors, and they seem to be running smoother.
