My pass side mirror quit working. Before I take the door panel off has anyone had this problem? My drivers side works fine. The power adjust works on both. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks jeff

Had the same problem on my 98 12v, power function worked but the heating element failed.

I replaced mine with a new one from the dealer (glass with attached heating element) for around $50. 00 CND.

The lens can be removed simply by pulling it out, as it just snaps in, and you can check the connections with an ohmmeter/voltmeter. Usually its a burned out element.

Good luck with it,

2 winters ago, my driver side mirror cracked as it was unthawing ice from it. I don't know if it got to hot or what, but I have a crack from top to bottom on the mirror, It still works, and I have gotten used to it.

I tried to pull the mirror from its housing. Does anyone know how hard you need to pull to get it to come free? I don't want to break it. Thanks

Jeff

Jeff,

You have to pull it as hard as if a bus hit your mirror while you are driving towards it . . . Don't ask me how I know this . . . #@$%! The good news was since the mirrors are heated the wires kept the glass from falling to the ground and breaking, I was able to just "pop" the mirror back into the adjuster part of the housing.

Try placing two open end wrenches top and bottom between the mirror and housing then give them a quick push, if that doesn't work place the wrenches on the side and alternate back to top bottom. Somethings got to give sooner or later. I'm not sure if taking the screw out of the bottom of the mirror housing will do anything or not.

For anyone interested, I have replaced my factory power heated mirrors with the Cipa towing mirrors from Geno's, and still have the factory mirrors.

If you're interested in them send me a PM, $100. 00 for the set.
