OK I am having big problems with the wiring in the truck. Just in case I need to hot wire the thing.

I'm replacing the whole wiring harness under the dash. And just in case that doesn't work I may need to hack something together. Any ideas?

1)ON/Switch to the back of the injection pump

2) Starter Switch.

Simple switch to the solenoid on the rear of the pump, and a momentary or pushbutton to the starter activator. Unless you want to go to the starter relay, but it doesn't matter much. That will at least get you running and around.

Good luck!

Make sure you put the pump switch where you can't turn it off by accident.

Also if you lend out your truck or leave it for service be sure you tell everyone involved how it works.

Then there is that neutral start thing. :)

Just passing on lessons learned by me.

Blue wire on injection pump is battery + . Run a wire from battery + to where the blue wire goes. You will hear a click noise. The fuel is now on.
There are two wires on the starter . One is a big fat red wire going straight from batt+ to starter. The other is a skinny brown wire that goes to the solenoid. Touch the brown wire to the bat + post to start.

Another trick is to remove solenoid on the injection (the thing the blue wire was on) once removed you will find a rod with a rubber tip and a vary small spring. Remove them then screw the solenoid back in. The engine will now start.
To shut it down pull the lever on the side of the pump . The nice thing about our trucks is that they do not need any electricity to run. Just turn on the fuel as I described above then figure out a way to turn the crank (push start with manual trans) or use air starter with auto trans) and away you go. LOL

Be warned that the dash harnesses are not the same from year to year or from gas to diesel. The wires are not arranged in the plugs the same from one year to the next. Some of the wire color codes are not the same from one year to the next either ! Plug up 2 different year wire harnesses together you might end up with a nice fire on your hands. The majority of the wiring problems in our trucks are caused by faulty trailer wiring . DO NOT RUN TRAILER RUNNING AND TAIL LIGHTS THREW THE TRUCKS WIRING HARNESS !!!!!. It over heats the tail light/dash light wires in the main harness. This causes the plastic insulation to melt on all the surrounding wires as well causing cross shorts.
The first give away that you have problems is when the plug on the headlight switch melts. Then look at the bottom of your fuse box. Look for a pink wire with a red stripe. If it is discolored and melted you better figure out where the problem is fast. Next stop will be when the truck catches fire. The entire dash is made out of ABS plastic. It burns quite well also. Read some of my other posts on trailer wiring here on the site. . I would recommend getting a wire harness out of another truck that is the exact year as yours. If you can not find one remove your harness from the truck remove all the tape and plastic covers. Then go threw each and every circuit repairing all of the bad sections that you find. Be sure to use solder and shrink tube. NO CRIMP CONNECTORS ! Then re wrap the harness with plastic wire wrap. DO NOT USE STICKY ELECTRIC TAPE! If you feel that you are not experienced enough to do the job. You can send it to me to have done. I will call you with an estimate before I start. It takes a lot of time to over haul the harnesses correctly. It is not cheap. Cost depends how bad it is . I can be reached at 301-219-7399 anytime.
