truck was broken into last night edge box was rippid out now check engine light is on when I started the truck. Dont know what the code is yet. is it ok to run the truck with the box just unpluged do I need to dc the wires?

Youcan get the code by turn ignition to run (don't start) and quickly cycle (turn ignition on and off quickly 3 times) then leave on the 4th time. Your odometer will display the code.



Simply disconnecting the Edge should not set a code with just starting the truck, I don't think unless wires are damaged or shorted. You could set a code running id you have a boost elbow w/out the Edge possible setting an overboost code.



Let us know what the code is.

You need to reconnect the Map sensor to the stock harness, you are probably getting a boost code. The check engine light should go out after 3 successful starts after that, although the code in the computer will remain and have to be cleared with a scanner. The rest of the wiring I believe can remain so you can replace the box with little hassles.

The ignition sequence does not work on a 99, scanner only.

Since you can't read the code, go to an Advance Auto Parts... they will read it for you for free.

I will let you know what the code is. I am out to do clean up and assesment now in the wonderful 32 deg windy weather! thanks for the help forgot about the boost thing that is prob what it is. I wish people could keep there hands to themselves#@$%!

It was an over boost code! I will reconect the MAP and start looking for a new box its hard to drive this truck stock. does the TDR have a stolen items post area? just in case it were to show up.

The way the economy and unemployment are right now you need a good alarm, gun, rifle, something very vicious (Female, dog etc. ) to keep what you have. Alot of semi honest people are a layoff from crime. You would have to be pretty lucky to retrieve that box IMO. The other alternative is to unplug the box yourself and take it with you. You need to remember to plug it back in tho, before you turn the key on or you will probably go into limp mode and another engine light.
