I have a 1990 buick lesabre that intermittently decides to start. No problems until this morning when it died. It acts like it's the neutral safety switch as the battery is fine but it won't crank. This evening after letting it sit all day it fired right up. I let it run for awhile then killed it and tried it again and it did the same no crank thing. I don't want to spent the $$ to replaceit as it is only part time transportation and it will be be driven after the CTD is up and running again.

How can I bypass the neutral safety switch?

if its just a 2 or 3 wire plug (simple reverse and neutral switch) you can just jump the wires. if its a combination switch and sensor you really need a diagram to figure out what wire does what. I got outta automechanics in 89 and I cant remember what they had at that time. you can try googling the wiring diagram or try test neutral safety switch 1990 buick

also next time it dont start trying tapping the starter with a hammer and then try to start if that works its the solenoid you can also jump the big wire and small wire on the solenoid with a screw driver just be really careful you dont touch nothing else

where would I find the switch? Is that under the dash or under the vehicle?

Many GM products had the switch at the base of the steering column, not sure on your model.

Put a test light onthe small wire at the starter, have some one hit the key,if it lights pull the starter and repair if not work backwards checking the wiring, and switches.
