I am wondering if I have 03-04 injectors, and put 04. 5-07 nozzles on them, will they work in the 04. 5-07 trucks or are there more differences than the nozzles? Thanks

I believe there is more difference then the nozzles.

The 04. 5 and newer has a 3rd injection event, the 03-04 does not

two totally different injectors

Are you SURE about that?:confused:

Most injectors rebuilders are listing the CR 2003-2007 units as a group with no differentiation. I think the 04. 5+ tips will retro to the eraly trucks but goign the other way is not a good thing.

IIRC, the differences are in the nozzle size and number not the injector body itself. The only other thing would be the bowl and spray angle differences but using the correct nozzle will address that.

trust me two different part numbers and a guy I worked with accidently put 03 injectors in a 05 it smoked really bad

Yes, but were the nozzles 03 as well?? The injector body, IIRC, is the same. . Just the nozzles are different.

Body and nozzles are considered one unit/injector at the dealer, so they ('03 vs '04. 5) would be different part numbers even if the bodies are the same.

Maybe different part # but that doesn't neccessarily mean the bodies aren't the same. AFAIK, the injector bodies from 03-07. 5 are all the same with a few internal parts upgrades hence the part # difference, and they will interchange.

Putting 03 injectors in and 05 will definitely cause issues as the bowl shapes are different.

The fact that injector bodies fit indicates a high probability they are the same bodies and the tips are the key. Plus several injector builders have told me the same thing. :)

03/04 injectors tips have 8 holes, vs 5 holes for 04. 5 +, also the spray angle is wider on the 03/04 tips, so the timing cannot be advanced as far without spraying outside the bowl.

As far as I know, the bodies are identical.

The bodies between the two injectors are the same. It is the tips that are different.

You can put 03-04 tips on 04. 5-07 bodies. You can also put 04. 5-07 tips on 03-04 bodies.
