My truck has had the delayed 1st gear to 2nd shift since new if I drive easy.

Shifts great if I get on it.

Now at 30k it hangs in 1st and will sometimes hunt between 1st and 2nd now.

Im doing filter and fluid change this weekend.

I hate to have a dealer dig into it and make it worse:mad:

Can I leave it alone or will this destroy the innards of the transmission in time?

(I never see it hotter than 180-200deg even on hot days)

Would a dose of lubeguard help?

Gove pressure solenoid and/or transducer, good place to start. There is a TSB for it if you want to try warranty work. Complain of shuttle shifting and hang shifts and see if a dealer will do it. :)

I have the same problem. Do you have a shift kit in it? My 04 was fine until I had a shift kit installed. I went back to the transmission place and they said that is the issue when a kit is installed. Try putting it in tow mode. It stops once I hit 20.

The shift kit should FIX the hunting issue not make it worse. If it does either there are some issues with how the shift kit was installed, the gov pressure solenoid and/or transducer are at fault, or there is a mechanical issue that is causing it.

You may also need to add a shift enhancer to totally get rid of the problem. Works on mine with a shift kit and running TQ management reduction.

It sounds like I should change out the gov press selenoid at the same time i do the trans fluid and filter.

The instructions look fairly easy for a do it yourselfer driveway mechanic like me i think?

Will there be any computer issues after i do the install?

Is it as easy as it looks in the book?

They are dead simple to change in the driveway. No computer issues unless the connections are not plugged in correctly. Pretty much plug-n-play. :)

I spoke with a local trany shop and the seaking between 1 and 2 and 2 and 3 or common. Itll cost me $300 to have the both the selenoids replaced, filter and fluid.

Does it pretty much only do it when you back up first ? Mine was holding first gear and then shifting to second real hard . Took to dealer and they found the valve body warped ,changed valve body and have no problems in over 50000 miles .
