Its probably about 1 in. but the hood liner hung down farther than that so it had to be cut out where the plenum is. I have had it in for almost 1 year and it has worked excellent and you've probably seen my mileage numbers. Let me know if you are going to do it and I can measure and take pics.

Nope. No codes thrown except I forgot to plug in the IAT sensor when I put everything back together but that has long been cleaned off. I can't imagine what codes it would through but it has worked excellent for almost a year.
