2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Painting my truck, with pics

I am finally getting started painting my truck. This is the replacement door & I figured that I would get the jamb painted to save down time when I pull the truck into the shop. The color is Sunset Orange metallic. This thing is gonna look wild!!!!:-laf

YES!! Please keep us posted. I have always wanted to paint my truck or any of my vehicles that color. With my black (charcoal) interior, it would look beautiful!!

Welcome to The Chop Shop I called these guys, they delivered it to a drop zone about 40min from my house. I met them at Home Depot & a crowd of guys were there picking up parts as well. He delivers all across the country between Canada & Georgia. Door had everything still on it except for a mirror, gave $350 for it. Great guy to deal with, but he only delivers up here once a month. Thanks guy, I'll keep posting pics, but this is gonna be a slow process. I have all winter.

If anyone is looking for two rust free door's, I have two off a '97 reg. cab, minus the electronic's for the power window's. $500 for both.

No more rust for me. When I get done with this truck, it is going straight to Line-x to get coated below the body line. I am also sanding the frame & giving it a good coat of rustoleum black. :-laf

I picked up my hood from the body shop & it was pretty wavy. I am blocking the hood to make it flat, then spraying urethane primer & blocking again. I will have pictures up soon, but here is a picture of the hood I bought.

Got the hood primed today. The hood was really wavy & it took alot of blocking to make it straight. I had a couple of spots where pits showed up & had to fill them back in with urethane primer. Its been a rough day, but should be worth it.

Hood is done, I had alot of hours straightening the hood. The block sanding paid off, nice & straight now. :rockwoot:

Here are a few more. The spots in the hood which look like swirls from a buffer are actually a reflections from the plastic I stapled to the ceiling. Lots of shine to the clear.

Thanks man, will do. I was off work today & got a early start blocking the roof. It had about 50 hail dents, but most of them sanded out without using mud. I will be a few days straightening the roof, then I'm sanding the door jambs & gonna shoot the roof & jambs next.

My 96 has the paint flake illness, and a little rust cancer on the pass. side. . I want to do somethin with it this spring/summer, just cant paint for nuthin...

I`m in carnegie, bout 1/2hr from you. .
