Go with the aftermarket. I had my taken out, sent to F1 Diesel, where they were tested and then had 100hp nozzles installed. Truck runs so much better now. I got my injectors from Source Automotive.

That question is almost impossible to answer. I have seen some shade tree mech. 's that shouldn't attempt changing a belt and others that could build a shortblock blindfolded.

I second, calling Rip at Source Automotive. Then you can decide whether or not you want to do the un-install/install yourself.

He will set you up with shipping instructions to Formula 1, Don M, will test and repair each individual injector. You will have your choice of tips, or Don can extrude hone your tips, provided they are intact.

You will not be sorry!

appreciate the input buddy can you email me the info on how to get in touch with those people it will be greatly appreciated thanks email address is -- email address removed --

I had problems finding Source Automotive too.

Source Automotive Performance Diesel - Home

Ask for Bill or Rip. The first step is for you to order the nozzles. Don at F1 makes them and then contacts source automotive to tell you to remove yours, which you then send directly to Don. He scopes/tests your injectors, repairs them as necessary and then installs the nozzles. Don then sends the injectors directly back to you. He took about a day to get mine complete. You choose the delivery method. :-laf

yeah got my =injectors sent out this monday to f1 cant wait to get them back and install em thanks for all the info sure appreciate it the dealer here wanted $700 an injector then the install rate they charge it would have cost close to $6000 to fix

I would like to know how Don supposedly repairs them. My diesel shop tells me the only machine capable of testing them to 29000 psi or whatever is at Bosch in Germany. Maybe they said there is one other in the country, can't recall. Plus, Bosch has not released parts to rebuild any part of the injector, so how is Don getting parts? The shop I took it to is certified and a Bosch distributor.

I had mine rebuilt by Don. Runs the same, no change. I actually did not notice any more power. When I start it in the cold it white smokes and lopes like hell for awhile. It actually is worse this winter (after the injector swap) than it was last winter. About twice as bad. I just deal with it, get it on the road as fast as I can. I have a miss once in awhile, just ignore it. I'll bet if I bought brand new injectors it would run like new. Just a guess. So, thinking I wasted $ on having them rebuilt?

I think you may have been misinformed there are now many Bosch injection shops equipped to work on the hpcr injectors. If you can find their dealer locater web page they will be shown. My local shop has the capability and is very reasonable on the price to test an injector.

iirc bigger injectors will white smoke more than smaller one ;) in the cold.

remember white smoke is unburnt fuel, with a cold block it will happen if temps are low enough

my 63litre bfi smoke like a freight train when i start it in the morning when cold out:cool:

all i know is that now that i bad injectors it would lope and throw white smoke bad because they were leaking and i got on it hard on the highway to about 100mph and it like cut out a couple times then it started with the miss in the mornings

Dynomite Diesel has the Bosch injector testing equipment and gets the new stainless steel bodies when they get new injectors. They recommend the Stage 1 over stock for performance and mileage. That is what I put into my Turbo Diesel recently. They provide complete installation instructions with color photos with their injectors.
