I have a 2004. 5 and I don't like the filter minder, why you ask, I do such routine maintainance that I do not use it... to me it is just another way dirt could wiggle it's way into. Is there a stock air box without it? Or if not, does anyone have a used or new filter minder I can trade for some tube steps and a bug deflector? (My friend kept pushing the yellow reset button on it and messed it all up. ) Thanks.

You can get one for almost nothing at any Cat or Cummins dealer. I agree, they are almost useless. Cat industrial engines use a digital filter restriction sensor that provides feedback to the engine ECM. But, for some reason, some of them also come with the filter minder...

Most are 1/8 inch pipe thread and you can just remove it and plug it. Not sure about the Cummins, but on the Cats, there is a screened adapter that has a . 025" orfice on the back side of it.

My minder sucks down with an empty truck, a cold air intake, and a Amsoil filter. I can't imagine that I'm that restricted. There has to be a more accurate way to measure restriction.

Do the PSM intake tube or cheaper Home Depot style and the filterminder won't budge.

Mine is the cheaper "Lowe's" version. :-laf Also have the Cool Blue Tube. Anyway, the truck runs great. I push the little yellow button and all is good again.

My buddy's stock '07 has never moved the Filterminder, except when the stock filter is clogged. Mine from new moved it driving home after purchase. I don't think these Filterminders do much.

Mine never worked (2000) from day one. The dealer wouldn't replace it so I just service it as needed (K&N) and don't worry about it.

Mine would suck down on my first 06 in a heartbeat. The 06 i have now doesnt move, with all the same mods off the old one. Go Figure

If it is broken you can get dirt in if not you will not get any dirt in . I do not trust it. We had them in the mine and was no good. Jest keep your oil change on a set milage and check it at each oil change. I change my air filter oil & fuel all at 5000 miles. I thank it is good insurance for me. == Good luck
