Forgot, what about brake upgrades? I would think with a 19. 5 wheel, a really nice big brake set could go in there to help haul the beast in.

Anybody done it or seen it?

on my 06, 265's clear stock suspension with Rickson wheels. 285's rub the control arm slightly at full lock but clear all body parts.

NavyDoc,

I use a good set of Raybestos pads from Kragen's. The normal set of brake pads with 16's and 19. 5's lasted about 25kmi... right now I've got about 30kmi on the better set with some meat left.

Without an exhaust brake I think that is normal for our 2nd Gen trucks... . depending on our mix of city/highway and how much hot rodding we do.

my 265's have never rubbed. I like the ride, it seems to handle better, but maybe it's because I'm driving a cool truck and not humping a ruck in the sand... . dunno.

I think that Rickson makes the aluminum wheels for SRW's. Look in the TDR classifieds. I think I saw two Al sets for sale. I bought my steel Ricksons from the TDR classifieds. Shop around for shipping... . the wheel/tire sets are HEAVY!!

If you've got the $$ I don't think you'll regret it.

thanks again for your service doc... I mean it... . no more shot records to be conveniently lost so you can believe me.

Peter,

I nearly ****** myself reading your message. I know a few of the big knife crowd - like you said. My SEAL friends are a lot less obvious - guess that's why they get so many bad guys and spend less time talking about it!

Thanks for all the info. I may just take the plunge. Sadly they aren't offering the forged/polished aluminum wheels for SRW Dodge. Will have to be steel unless I can find a used set for sale.

Any major rubbing issues with the 265's? They have a set of 285's - not sure if they'll fit on stock suspension. I could put on a coil spacer up front to clear. Not sure if 285's are needed though - 35. 4" tall and 11" wide load H

Thanks again.

Why would Rickson Stop making the Aluminum Forged wheel? is there a problem we dont know about?

I spoke to Rickson a couple weeks ago about availability of the AL wheels and Heather said it wasn't that they wanted to stop production, but that they were having problems with vendors. So I guess they either can't get the AL or can't find someone to machine them.

on another thread on here they showed the Rickson AL wheels were made in China, maybe the Chinese have stopped working

The AL wheels they show on the website are Vision cast wheels, not the forged AL wheels. When you look throught the pricing sheets on the website, they have crossed out the forged AL wheels.

I don't think the Chinese ever stop working!;)
