it is only dead because of the state i have the truck in in order to trace the other issue. The truck will start and run if i put it back together.

Bring that sucker to my shop over the weekend. We will drink some adult beverages, compare it to my '96 and figure it out. If that fails, I have a factory service manual for my '96 and we can look it up in there.

You need this bumper for that beater anyway!

flush coolant, change oil, tab dowel pin, add fuel... Better bring a case of beer!

I'm gonna check my maunal and see what color the wire was but it sounds eerily familiar to when the parking brake warning light shorted out on my 96. It was only the part of the circuit that lit the light when you turned the key to crank

That would make sense... We shall look and see under the influence of some adult beverages Sunday!

Actually it made no sense. Went to start the truck up and poof large cloud of smoke. The wire actually is on the ground side of the circuit so it would have had to touch a hot wire to short yet the aforementioned wire was the only one with damage. I cut it out and never had a problem again. the light still works when the p brake is applied it just doesnt come on when you crank the motor

I'm not gonna get home till late tonight to check color in the manual but if it helps the wire went from the instrument panel to the ignition key to the firewall connector I'm pretty sure it was black with a stripe or had a black stripe
