I inst. one on mine (06) about three years ago.

IMO, there is no better sound than rowing through the gears of the 6 spd. stnd. trans. ,with a straight piped Cummins in front of it.

I couldn't agree more. I didn't install the one geno's sells but when i did the duals on my truck, the company that i got it from didn't have any mufflers in stock. Its noisy when your on loud pedal:-laf but quiet at cruising speeds.

My 0. 02.

I didn't use the Geno's kit either but a local muffler shop removed the muffler and installed a straight pipe but left the catalytic converter in place. I am an old guy and enjoyed the sound. It roared a little when loaded and accelerating hard but was not objectionable in the cab at cruise. I traveled the entire nation with it towing trailers and never received any unwanted attention from law enforcement.

I wish I could do the same on my '08 C&C. It sounds like a Honda Accord rather than a powerful diesel engine.

How's the "drone" in the cab?... I thought about installing a ME kit, but after owning a HEMI Dodge, I NEVER want to hear the droning again!. I have also considered the Ansa exhaust system from Geno's, anybody have experience with it? Surely the drone would be less that an ME kit??? My truck has the automatic, so i'm really not sure how the ME kit would sound. .

I have the Genos ME kit and it is pretty loud when you give her a bit. Just cruising its fine. I dont mind it. It does set off car alarms driving through San Francisco and my girlfriend wishes I hadnt done it. I did gain some mpg and performance. I can still talk to someby out side the truck with out yelling. All in all it is pretty loud when you stand on it. I was driving down skyline blvd in SF which is a narrow two lane ocean front drive. A two lane bike path parralles the drive as its a nice bike ride. A dumb *** couple was out riding their wide handle cruiser bikes on the none exsistant shoulder of the road. With on coming traffic the cars could not pass the bikes. When I finally got to them I gave them a WOT shot of straight piped CTD and they damn near fell of their bikes and into the bushes. They imediatly stopped and walked the bikes onto the bike path.

If you leave the CAT in it wom't be too bad, CAT out and it is loud under load. I have the MBRP 5" turbo back and love the way it sounds but it is loud under load too. I do enjoy the sound though.

sierra ram

Your truck sounds much like mine thanks for the comeback. I would definitly leave converter on to try to muffle it some.

I am debating right now on going straight pipe or picking up a new muffler.

My 51" Donaldson is rattling and driving me nuts. I would like a bit more noise then it currently makes.
