New diesel legislation in effect today

Fuel Prices!!!

Zangara Dodge Dealer in Albuquerque since 1991 announced going out of business yesterday. Another Dodge Dealer in Belen, NM 30 south of Albuquerque went out of business several months ago. That leaves only one Dodge Dealer in the Albuquerque area, which is Melloy Dodge. Melloy is where I purchased my 05 Dodge Ram 3500. This economic slowdown is getting scary.

Any more Dodge Dealer gone under?

We've had a least 2 in the Seattle area go out of business in the last few months. Both of them had terrible service departments in terms of quality service as well as being guilty of almost criminal misdianonsis. I just hope that non of the service techs that used to work there show up anywhere that I might go for service on any of my cars (or truck)

NOT only Dodge dealers - but the full spread of goods and services - we're so far only seeing the tip of a monstrous iceberg - and ain't really seen NOTHING yet of the full depth of failed businesses and national infrastructure...

Far too many across our society are like the passengers on the Titanic - they know the ship has hit something - but refuse to accept that the ship will actually SINK!

You had damn well better start looking for life preservers for those close to you... ;)

Gary, I agree with you. This economic downturn is starting to hurt us all. I sure hope President Obama's stimulus recovery plan works.

It's always good to hear doom and gloom from predictable sources who can always be counted on to predict the end of the nation.

Personally, I don't think America is going to collapse any time soon. I don't know anyone who has lost his or her job or home. The Texas economy remains relatively strong and my life is good.

In some regions where a segment of the labor force has driven wages and benefits to unsustainable levels, consumers have spent themselves into bankruptcy, or politicians have promised too much everything to everyone and raised taxes to unsustainable levels an "adjustment" is occuring. It's not the first recession America has had and it won't be the last. Life will continue.

MURRAY DODGE in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania went out of business this week. Bought by SPORT CHRYSLER AND JEEP in Norristown, Pennsylvania. It looks like CHRYSLER wants to combine dealerships to sell entire line up. Chrysler,Dodge and Jeep and soon overlapping models will be eliminated reducing redundant overhead.

Operation Genesis calls for all 3 brands in one location. Chrysler is not forcing dealers to close but is not going to carry a weak dealer either. More will be closing before the economy turns around.

We are going to see parts shortages in the not too distant future too. All this auto stuff is going to snowball big-time.

NOW is the time to consider a spare of whatever is a regular maintanance part and also a few of those no-so like starter, water pump, brake pads, and the like before there are none to be had.

Same may apply to filters and fluids. Lots of our filters are actually imported with just the user friendly names on them, but no longer manufactured in the US, if they were to begin with.

I bought my truck from Western Motors Dodge in Hobbs, NM. Just got an e-mail the other day, they are now Tate Branch Dodge. Handle Dodge and Jeep now under NEW management/ownership. Rumor several months ago (late fall) that Western filed for chapt 11, would be a new name at the end of their reorg process - I guess the rumor was true.

CD

had one close down just north of me about 2 months ago. most of the employee's got to relocate at other in house dealers, but some got their walking papers. hate to resemble a vulture, but they had a 3500 on the lot i was eyeing at a great price. nows a pretty good time to buy if your able!

I didn't realize Lubbock was so isolated. I have two daughters in the DFW area that have a number of friends that would disagree with you.
