well its time to upgrade the headlights I dont want to do the sport conv, looking at the one piece units that geno's and LMC has. also ebay. there is a halo projector style and non halo style both having small little led's with assembly. my questions are what seems to be the best. also just found out when I went to adjust my oem lights one of the torq bits has been stripped out. do any of these aftermarket lights do they use the oem adjusters or come with new adjusters. etc. etc. my truck is lifted 6" in the front so what ever I decide I will need good clean line of site with the lights just dont know what would be the best.

head lights

Got mine from the Dodge dealer, Had Old Man Bob 4x4 installed them, I believe to did a little sawsall work, Wow I can see again, also I had to have a brake and light inspection certification for the DMV to get my salvage title, and was told it was a good thing they for late model factory lights or I would not have got my certification. If you look in the back issues of TDR there was a complete layout on how to install them, and the prices for the lights from any dealer,

those halo projector headlights are simply trash. I had them on my truck for all of one day. The fit and finish was simply terrible. Between the headlight and side fender you had this one inch gap and they looked all out of wack when you adjusted them to actually have light shining on the road. I was lucky to sell them for a 10 dollar loss to some idiot.

Of course this only my opinion.

I got the one piece headlights with clear lenses off of ebay. They are a lot brighter than the stock ones. The only thing I don't like about them, is there is no way to adjust them, at least that I have found. They are the same ones LMC has.

Yeah, I put some aftermarket ones on, and my main complaint about them is how much of a PITA is to adjust them. I had to take the light out, adjust it, put it back in, repeat. Other than that, they look ok. Big gap along the fender. And a PITA to install too, since they're one piece.

this is starting to sound helpless. I may have to look into the sport conversion. I already have the better silverstar light in mine right now. Im wondering if the aftermarket light harness the lmc has if that is even worth anything now.

by the way golsen thanks for the pic's have to look tonight on my computer im at work and the govt. IT geeks dont let me look at truck porn pictures.

okay. so this is where I'm at. finding out most aftermarket lamp assy dont adjust very well. (need adjustment truck is lifted) I dont want to do the sport swap. seems more involved than I want to get into. next step.

thinking of keeping my oem housing and run HID. at a local shop they do HID installs. this is what i found out HID with Ballist with high/low beams both be HID. I hope im explaining this. also the bulb when it switches to high/low the bulb tilts in the housing. but i can choose what ever color/heat? 6k 7k 8k etc. but installed on the truck with warrenty is 240. 00

Something to keep in mind when converting to HID. The HID bulb needs a proper projector for it to aim the light correctly. A lot of people just convert their bulbs to HID which can be dangerous to others on the road. Without a projector to aim the light, it'll pretty much go all over the place, including oncoming driver's eyes. With a lift, I'm sure it would be even worse. Bottom line, if you're going to do an HID conversion, you need to use a projector style light.

On edit: This is the site that I found when I was going to retrofit HID onto the wife's car. A lot of good info Daniel Stern Lighting Consultancy and Supply

I just installed the ANZO black headlights from Geno's a couple of months ago in my non-sport 2001. They are much brighter than stock and were fairly easy to install. If you take your time and angle the lamps just right you don't even have to remove the black bumper cover.

Not sure why you are so against the sport conversion..... IMHO it is one of the best BOMB's I've done. Check out the link posted above to Daniel Sterns site, great info.

The sport assembly is plug and play on your rig and the light output is amazing!

I guess I probley need to read more up on the sport swap, I guess my Lazy side of the head was doing the thinking. I assumed it was a pain in the arse to do the sport swap. will look into it.

I have those lights on my truck and I absolutely hate them. They have the worst light pattern I've ever seen and they don't even seem as bright as old, yellowed stock lights. Adjusting is a huge pain, as was installation.

The crappiest part of the whole deal is that I love the way they look... but I am so disappointed with the way they, (don't), light up the road.

I bought them off of ebay and they cost way too much to ship to Canada... which I would have accepted if they worked... which they don't.

They will serve their purpose until I can find a good deal on the sport lights... or I may just clean up my stockers and put them back in.

As with many things, looks aren't everything... dammit.

Pretty much the exact way I feel about them. I think they lit up the road a little better than my stockers, but other than that... . #@$%!

The light pattern is some vague, amorphous blob. On low beam, without my fog lights on, I get almost no light in front of my truck and yet the light seems to disappear down the road. On high beam, the light is aimed so high, it barely hits the road at all...completely useless, except for reading street signs.

I agree with MRoberts and Charles, I don't know why you are against the sport light swap. I did it, and it was "IMHO it is one of the best BOMB's I've done". The difference between the stock and sport is night and day (pun intended). You don't need the brite box from geno's because both bulbs stay lite in bright mode. Not that hard to install. Getting them over the bumper was the harderst part. I bought the wirering harness which made that process a piece of cake. You will never regret the Sport light upgrade.

dumb question but when I buy the new sport lights the adjusting torq screws will it come with new ones. I have one on the lamp I currently have and is stripped. also so the sport lights how many bolts do they use. same as non sport. like I said I'm looking into it now. I was just more lazy and thought it was a pain in the butt.
