I am interested in updating to newer design turbo set-up. Been pleased with the B-1 , but want a little more cooling in the lower RPM. The B-1 has no cooling issues in the over 2K range and I'm thinking with the towing twins,I will have the best of both worlds. Towing with the B-1 under 2K rpm renders some strange surging noises and a little bit of bucking. Never had truck dynoed but comparing sigs similar to mine and I think I am around 325 to 350hp at the wheels.

Letme know your thoughts... . positive or otherwise!!!

I put them on my truck and love them. Fast spool up at low end and never seems to run out on high end. Don't think I've ever seen over 1200egt since install. The only thing I would suggest considering is o-ringing your head because after I installed mine I popped the head gasket.

unless you're planning on future fuel mods, I think twins are a bit of overkill(especially on the pocketbook). Do you know the specs on your B-1??

fwiw, I have the BD towing twins... . they're pretty nice for what they are.

Planning on Mach 4's soon... . but for now I am planning the BD upgrade. My mechanic says the head gasket will be OK..... maybe based on my current fuel set-up. Don't know the specs on my B-1 but it seems responsive when the throttle is jabbed. The low speed cooling does not compare to the stock 35 at all. 285 tires, auto trans and 3. 54's don't help but I've learned to drive with OD locked-out under 55mph... . that helps tremendously!

how many miles before replacing your head gasket

thanks

Not very many like less than 1000, but when we rebuilt the motor we put a cometic gasket in that thing was a piece of junk. But from what I hear a stock gasket only is good to about 45-50 psi boost, and with 100hp injector I can push 60+ with the twins.

Do you think I will reach 50psi boost with my mods and the twin?I have 100hp inj. also but no head porting and aftermarket cam set-up. Probably be wise to have head O-ringed just in case.

If I were to do it over again, I'd go right for the BD towing twins (and I still might). I rarely use all my top end HP, so a large set doesn't appeal to me. But I'd love to get some of my bottom end pulling power and response back.

Head gasket wise, mine cut loose at 40 psi on a cold day. I think BD's claims that 50 is okay is wishful thinking. I certainly wouldn't trust it long-term, considering that's twice what the stock gasket is designed for. I'd figure head studs to be a minimum for those boost levels. Considering the cost of twins, studs are cheap insurance.

You and I share the same issues based on previous threads that we've commented on. I really do like the B-1 but miss the low-end responsiveness the stock turbo had. No question about having more power... . just a different powerband. I have been towing with the set-up now for 2 years and learned how to re-drive the truck to compensate. Just want more low end and was thinking the twins would certainly help in both ways.
