Truck stalling, fuel problem?

Well guys I guess I've been a lurker long enough. This is my first post so bear with me. I just installed some Nitto Terra Grappler 305/70/17 tires. I know it thru my speedo off 7%. It also has changed my shift points in the transmission. I tow a 10,000 lb 5th wheel 10% of the time. I guess my question is should I take it a shop to have everything corrected or just leave it as is.

thanks

I'd probably recommend the Smarty Jr. It allows you to set the larger tire size yourself, and will give you a little more power and fuel mileage as well. It also will allow you to check and clear trouble codes as well.

I would have it corrected either by having the dealer change your pinion factor or a programmer that will allow you to correct the factor yourself.

Does the larger tires rub on the undercarrage when make a hard turn? I am looking at the same tires but I don't have a lift kit.

I ran 315s on my 2500 with only minimal rubbing of the lower control arms at lower than normal pressures, at full lock, and in reverse (all these at the same time). The rubbing is minor, just enough to buff the paint off the control arms.

I'm looking at the same tire in the 295-70-17 size. How do you like them so far ?

How much did they set you back?

Thanks for the responses. I've had the tires on for a week and love them. They don't rub at all with no lift or leveling kit. The mileage on the computer is down 1. 8, I'll check it the right way on the next fill-up.

I bought these on craigslist for $600. They were off a f-350 that a young navy guy had to change them for 38's when he put a 6" lift on. They had 3,000 mile on them. He did talk me into buying Dyns Beads for balancing. So far they seem to work great. I've been up to 75 mph with no balance problems. Tire Balancing Products

I'll have to look into buying a smarty Jr. as soon as funds are available.

Perfectly timed post, I was about to pull the trigger and order 4 (305s) and wondered if they would fit without a lift... Thanks!

I hope you have better wear with the nitto's than i've had. Down to around 7/32nds in 5,000 miles. Not trying to change anybody's mind or anything, but i won't buy them again.

My 0. 02.

Did you have them in the 06 or 07 timeframe. I was looking at the reviews online and 2 years ago that was a common complaint. Newer reviews all seem to be pleased with longevity...

I just took a set of my truck about a month ago. They lasted all of 20k miles.

Excellent traction, but the tread life sucks. I won't buy them again.

Mine were 285/70/17 Es

I hope I get more than 20K. The stock michelins went for 89K and still passed inspection but the side walls were starting to crack. I'd like to get at least 40k. We will see.

January 2008. It was the 285/70/17 size. The guy at discount tire said that it would get better over time, but guess what its been a year and it never did. I'm going to see if i can get something else this weekend.

Live and learn.

I ordered the 305s so we will see. I sure hope they do better than the first set (OEM tires--BFGoodrich Rugged trail) which only lasted 30K.

Thanks for the advice. I just got Nitto Terra Grapplers in 305/70/17. No rub and a good ride. This is the perfect size... looks great.

I had the Terra Grapplers LT325/60/18 and was very happy with them. Excellent traction wet or dry. I got 30,000 miles out of them, and probably could have gone another 5 to 8 thousand miles out of them. My only complaint was that they were Load Range D.
