I actually met with my Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-D2) on Jan 24 with my wife and a friend regarding this such issue. His opinion was that the Big O had too much on his plate to try to bring this up and it shouldn't be a problem. He refused to tell me his feeling on the matter which means that he would vote for such a thing. He was obviously wrong. I have written a petiton and placed it at my local gun store about 2 weeks ago for all to read and sign. It will be sent to both senators and my rep when there are enough signatures. If there is any interest please contact me and I will email a copy of it so that you may change the names of the senators/reps to fit your districts and then place it where ever you see fit. I have to imagine that your local gun store will be more than willing to let you leave it there. Your job would be to convince the store owner to get his customers to sign it. Under these circumstances, it shouldn't be too hard. Just PM me with your email address if you want a copy of it.

Remember, the only way the government can get away with this is if not enough of us call them, send letters, or sign petitions. Get on it right away!

FAR more to the point:

ABC News: Obama to Seek New Assault Weapons Ban

THIS, mere DAYS after "O" hits office, and after all his public campaign assurances he was not "after your guns"...:mad:

Its all to the point! We have to respond to all efforts, both Positive and Negative, to Preserve our Right to Keep and Bear Arms. Good legislation that is introduced should not be overlooked because of a threat! The Assault weapons ban must be dealt with, also! But not at the expense of continued concealed weapons carry laws and the minimization/endruns around the Heller vs D. C. decision.

It is ALL there to deal with, multiple battles on multiple fronts. Get used to it, it will get worse before it gets better. Dont forget legislation that can come from U. N. Treaties, Environmental concerns such as lead, "Cop Killer Ammunition", Center for Disease Control papers on mental health and health in general, AMA Bulletins reguarding "the dangers of guns in the home". There is a long list of paths of assault against our second Amendment to the Bill of Rights. We need to be cognizant of ALL points of attack and respond in a dilligent, imtelligent, no compromise manner. If the Dems. and their U. N. Cronies want to control criminals, let them go after the criminals and leave the Honest Citizen alone. Enforce the laws, provide no tolerance for crimes commited with a firearm, maximum sentences, and no parole at a minimum. However, the goal of the Globalists is not criminal control but people control. This is where we must have a no Compromise position. Get ready! The shots have been fired and your grid coordinates are the target. What affects one affects us all! Respectfully, GregH

Just got this email from the NRA. Looks like the good guys win in this case.

Fairfax, Va. - The United States Senate has voted, with overwhelming bipartisan support, to adopt an amendment offered by Senator John Ensign (R-NV) that seeks to protect the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens in the District of Columbia. The amendment, attached to S. 160, the D. C. Voting Rights Act, will repeal restrictive gun control laws passed by the District of Columbia's (D. C. ) city council after the landmark D. C. v. Heller Supreme Court decision. The vote margin was 62-36.

"Today's vote brings us one step closer to restoring the Second Amendment freedom of law-abiding D. C. residents," said NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris W. Cox. "It's ludicrous that good people in our nation's capital continue to be harassed as they try to defend themselves and their loved ones in their own homes. This vote reinforces the historic Heller ruling. "

After the Heller ruling, the D. C. city council passed a law requiring would-be gun owners to pay a registration fee, pass a 20-question multiple choice test, take a five-hour training course, undergo an invasive background check every six years, re-register any firearm every three years, and finally, submit all handguns for ballistics testing. Current D. C. law also bans an overwhelming majority of firearms commonly used for self-defense. This Ensign Amendment would also remedy that unjust practice.

"NRA would like to thank the lead sponsor, Sen. John Ensign for his efforts to reform D. C. 's gun laws and enable folks to protect their property and their loved ones," concluded Cox. "It's time for leaders in Washington to wake up to the fact that the Supreme Court decision is now the law of the land. "

I love the fact that Holder stated that he was moving to re-instate the 'assult weapon ban' because the President of Mexico ask him to! This is the same clown that said he recommended the pardon of the Puerto Rican terrorists because Desmon Tutu ask him to. I would be nice to have an Attorney General who was more concerned about the AMERICAN PEOPLE than the interest of foriegners! BTW, he's on record stating that the 2nd Ammendment is NOT and individual right! We are so screwed...

Yup, during the Heller case last summer, Holder filed a brief with the Court stating that he believed that the 2nd was referring only to the right of a militia to have firearms, not the individual. Fortunately, he was wrong.

[QUOTEFortunately, he was wrong. [/QUOTE]

Unfortunately, heeeeee'sssss baaaaackkkkk! And in a position of power in an administration that doesn't really care too much about individual rights!#@$%!
