This is it I need help, I am going into my 3rd trans and I can't afford to go through a trans every 2 years.

The first was the stock which lost first gear at 32,000 miles and now my second which was rebuilt not replaced under warrenty is starting to give me slippage in first again at 92,000 miles, so I need help.

what do I need to do to fix this problem? I was thinking of replacing the clutch pack and the torque converter for right now . Any input or knowelage?

I have a 2004. 5 with the 48re auto trans, 4x4 turbo diesel, edge and attitude controller, afe air intake, 5" exhaust, 373 gearing, running on 35" tires. I live in lancaster california so does anyone know of anyone out here in the high desert or southern california I can talk to?:{

You're too rough on those auto transmission's. You may want to consider selling your 04 and buy a new one with the new 6 speed auto or a 6 speed standard. Now's the time to buy a new truck since the prices have never been better.

Personally, I like standard transmissions.

If you don't get the pressures raise to the correct numbers you will eat every trans.

Stock is not enough.

Gonna have to break down and do a HD trans like DTT or one of those.

1st gear is pretty tall already, add to that 35's and a power module that reduces line pressure rise is a recipe for failures.

It will be expensive but actually less in the long run.

Trans

Should of got a Suncoast and you would of way ahead, no problems! Like the man said go ahead and spend the 8,000$ Full Billet triple disc TQ and flex plate:D Inglewood Transmission Service in Fullerton 714-870-7300 Mike Lovrich 500 S Raymond Ave Unit J Fullerton Ca 92831 He installs for Suncoast!

And I thought pulling my goose was tough on a transmission , being that I go through one every 100k . What you need is a different driver (lol) that's the only cure. that 9k tractor and 3k tractor (at the same time)I carry have taken it's toll on my truck including a motor but your doing better than me. good luck

Stock transmissions suck! Go with an aftermarket trans/converter no matter what kind you choose ( ATS, Suncoast... ) it will be much better than stock.

You need an aftermarket valvebody from Dusty at HTS. This will increase your line pressure and help your transmission hold better. It has worked wonders for me. A billet TC would also do you a world of good but then there is the risk of breaking your input shaft or flexplate.

x2 on Brown's Diesel. Had Goerend's torque convertor, valve body, flex plate, & input shaft installed about 1. 5 yrs ago and not a hiccup since. Was there 7am & done by noon & definitely lowest price around. Your call, but if you have a shop do the work do yourself a favor and give him a call. I drive 3. 5 hours to have Brown's work on my truck
