Dealer told me when I bought my truck that if go for 7th, the sycro was about to go out and not to worry because 6th is still an overdrive gear.

Gary, Mom and Dad moved down near Pawleys a couple of years ago. So this is a family visit. Rented a house in North Myrtle Beach as that was cheaper than towing the TT down there and back. Go figure. The rental house also means we'll be bringing the Dodge Journey down instead of Rammy. That makes me sad. It's just not as fun to kick tires with a fellow TDR guy when you don't have your TDR ride with you.

And no, we can not see Canada or SD from here. However, our states Capital Building is the tallest building in the state of ND and I think you can see Canada from there. Or at least a boat load of Saskatchewan plates in the parking lot. This whole passport business has thrown a real blanket on my Canadian journeys. BTW, my street address does in fact show up on my Garmin Nuvi 205 thank you very much. I think... ... ... ... .

Since I bought the Challenger, I try for 7th on the truck every time I take it on the Interstate. I drove home from work in it Fri only doing 65 MPH in a 70 because I just didn't want to listen to the noise. Gotta reprogram it with my Smarty again. :D Seriously, once I get the money, GMac is getting it to put in an Ally 1000, with the 6th gear. That should quiet her down considerably on the cruising speed.

Every month or so heading onto a freeway. Normally means I'm tired at the end of a long day, but of course it also means that the gearing on my truck is not optimal for the way I drive it. I still have not decided whether I will replace my G56 with a model AE G56 (higher final gear) OR replace the front and rear diff gears with the AAM 3. 42. Problem is I BOTH tow and ride unloaded, so I can't decide which will work best for me. Ideas??

Dave,

Keep me posted on your visit to MB, I'll check the calendar.

Really off topic, the Myrtle Beach area gets a good share of visitors from the land of the Maple Leaf.

Now back to your regular programming.

This has been fun, some day we should put a Drivers Wish List together and let the Big Guys see if it matters. I've sorta wondered about a 3/4 (not 3/4T) size/rated diesel powered P/U. Sometimes you don't need the biggest horse in the barn.

Gee, I can't imagine why. :D I stayed at the Anderson Ocean Club back in Mid Jan. It was very nice, inexpensive, and had everything I needed, specifically a washer and dryer in the room so I could do laundry.

I don't undestand? Every time I get on the freeway I use seventh and sometimes 8th... ... The Gear Vender works great for crusing down the freeway at low RPM's... ... . :-laf

I have both, the NV5600 and the G56 and drive both regularly and 7th will engage when you turn your radio up, and not just AM but FM with the Sirius radio, especially when Heavy Metal is playing. But I also can reverse this by thinking the 7th gear is engaged but the RPM just wont drop back to the normal 6th gear range, and go back to 7th.

FWIW, the sun sets on the left coast were the commies are still trying to figure out a way to tax that sun setting. When we fall into the ocean, SD will be the new left coast and you will have the burden of figuring out a way to taaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaax any thing you can find. Oh, and the ejection seat is for my wife when she starts to mess with my knobs on the dash, you know I like 7th and I don't want her to know about it.

RVTRKN,

Well, I guess this is proof positive, Dodge can't build two of them that work the same way. No wonder we don't bother to read the manuals.

I can see these trucks on e-bay right now, limited edition with Sirius 7 Speed included.

Re: Far Left Coast, it isn't that they want to tax the setting sun, they want to tax you for watching it go down.

Now over here in EST, we get to watch it come up for free!

Best wishes to all of the brethern of the Association of Seriously Spark Plug Free Roadmen, AKA: ASSPFR.

I grabbed 7th in mine just yesterday. . I hit the button on the Gearvendor OD! The RPM's dropped, noise went down, MPG's went up and all was well!
