smarty update?

I think the throw out bearing is bad, how can I tell?

We just installed the new Smarty on my friend's truck replacing the Hot Edge. It is stacked with the Edge EZ.

Question #1: With the Edge on level six boost levels of 58lbs were normal to see. With the Smarty installed cannot boost past 45lbs. Why? The power seems to come on a lot smoother with the smarty throughout the entire rpm and the truck seems to run much better than with the Edge. EGT tops out at 1375. RP 20,000-24,000.

Smarty settings: SW-9,RP-2,Torque-4,WG-off,T-aftermarket injectors,POD-90,EZ-2

Truck Mods: AD-150, Modded CP3, TC Rail, DDP-90 inj. , ATS ex. manifold, HTT 64/13 stainless turbo, studs, CFM, 5" turbo back, SB dual disc, gauges

Question #2: Would it make sence to stack the Juice on top of everything or is that a recipe for disaster?

Question #3: Is there an upgrade for the Smarty to get more out of it?

Thank you for taking the time to help.

I believe there is a TNT Smarty download from the website. Not sure exactly what it is but it looks like it pretty much doubles the power from the smarty. The only other thing I would be carefull about is the timing. The EZ and th odd settings from the Smarty add timing. Be carefull.

I guess it would be better to try the TNT before stacking anything else. The ez is always on the lowest setting unless racing. I guess it may be a good idea to drop it to SW8?

The Edge was boost fooling, the Smarty modifies the boost tables but tops out at about 45 psi. If you haven't added a boost fooler its probably just hittting the limits. Might try a simple Quad BF to see what effect it has.

I agree you need a boost fooler to get above the 45psi that the Smarty will do. I run an EZ also and it does not do normal boost fooling. With Smarty TNT/R and EZ I can only hit 45psi also. If I add just 2/0 on the TST with 0* timing I can hit my 50psi again.

I would not stack the Juice with the Smarty, get a boost fooler or swap the EZ for a MP8, that is what I will probably do.

Thanks a lot guys. He already has a quadzilla boost fooler hooked up, so i guess it will not do the trick. It must be working because it is allowing him to boost past the factory setting without codes.

Well that is a little strange. The Smarty TNT on mine by itself will allow boost to about 45psi. I know the EZ is not boost fooling enough to allow max on my configuration. The TST does and with it I can get 50+. Before the Revo/TNT software I ran Smarty/TST/EZ stack and could hit 55psi which is what my ii SPS66 wastegate is set at.

Regardless of how much you stack... If you add to much Timing it will destroy the Main and rod Bearings.

I guess the Smarty reprograms the ecu to let you boost past the factory setting without overboost codes? Which would mean that his fooler is probably not working? I have to look at it tomorrow.

The EZ plugs into the map sensor along with the boost fooler. Would it make sence that one would have to be plugged in before the other?

Thats a good question. Since the EZ doesn't boost fool it should not make any difference unless it is doing something to the signal.

How is the EZ and boost fooler sequenced on the Map sensor?

Try disconnecting the EZ and just run Smarty and BF to see if that will work.

RP2 and EZ2 is a fair amount of rail pressure (if the CP3 can keep up)... Hope he has more than the AD-150 for filtration.

But like others have said, it seems the boost fooling isn't working and the ECM is defueling at 44psi.

Why is the EZ not a boost fooler, this is contridictory to everything I have read in the past? I stopped using my Quad BF when I added the EZ because it made no difference.

I see 50 lbs all the time, as that is where my WG for turbo is set till I add studs.

Loaded sw 8 and truck runs much better, much better throttle responce. Ran the Smarty alone and got 45 psi. Plugged in the boost fooler and got 39psi. Plugged in EZ alone and got 42psi. Plugged in EZ and fooler and back to 45 as with Smarty alone. What's going on here?

I think the BF is TU. :)

I always assumed my EZ was doing full boost fooling also. But without the TST I can only get to 45psi. With the TST settings a minimum it will boost to 50-55psi even with the new Smarty software.

I tried to get an answer couple years ago from Edge, but did not get definite yes or no. Kinda like some boost fooling. I just know on mine that the EZ and Smarty will not go over 45psi. With the TST I am back to 50+psi.

Of course I guess my EZ could be fubar, it is almost 5 years old.

What year truck is this you are working on? Turbo, mods, etc?

it has the smarty pod, edge ez, quadzilla boost fooler, aem brute force intake, cfm intake manifold, HTB2 13-64, ats pulse exhaust manifold, 5 inch mbrp turbo back, cp3 mods, airdog 150, fuel filter canister delete, heater grid delete, Industrial Injection dual feed line, Dynamite diesel 90hp injectors, T&C wild rail. I might be missing something but i think i listed everything... my truck is a 2006 ram QB with G56.
