2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 2wd front Rotor Removal

Anyone know if you have to pull the hubs with the rotors and then have the studs pressed out to separate the rotors from the hubs on a 1999 2wd 2500?. I'm not much of a mechanic and I am going to try to tackle this job myself it is not to hard. I am hoping that the rotors will just fall off after I pull the wheels and calipers... .

They probably won't just fall off after you you pull the wheels and calipers but the there won't be anything but rust holding them on.



If your replacing the rotors then try a hammer, or a gear puller if you have one large enough.

I had to have my front assembly replaced, because of bad bearing. It was 1 piece part-the hub with bearing and studs. The rotor was pretty loose after the calipers removed. I do not know if it is the same for earlier year models,as your '99. Mine is 2wd as well.

Can someone clarify. I have a 1999 3500 dually 4x2 with 4-wheel ABS. I have yet to service the front brakes, but am researching the job for when the time comes.

All of the replacement rotors I see for my application look to be 1-piece (example below from Rock Auto) and easy off/on. I don't see what the wheel studs have to do with holding the rotor on as they are way outboard of where the rotor is.
